Bud swelling? ? Does anyone do this?

Hey Hogmaster, are you talking about fimming? Or that video on bud swelling?

@bonnie1 @Hogmaster @Jmesser80 So this brings up another question that I had along the same lines. they say not to fimm or top until you have 4 or 5 true leaves. so when do the true leaves start? I know not to count the round leaf but after that there is 1 leaf then 3 leaves than 5 leaves. When do you start counting?

A few weeks is when I do it 3-4 weeks

Start at the first true leaf with has 1 or the first after the round leaf

You know I was confused about that too. That’s the way you count it, just like you stated. Think it’s ok after five leaves on sixth I guess. I’m going to go look at girls now, and sniff deeply, cause my girls smell good already, and that’s all I have right now, just a sniff of that great smell :joy:

So counting the 1 leaf set, I have 5 sets of leaves with the 6th set coming out. Also Im going on 3 and a half weeks since sprout.

I’m on my first grow, but ive been doing that for yearsssss.
Seriously though someone please tell me this shizzle actually works…

That’s why some of my leaves look eaten… big bits missing out of some of them and I always wondered why  healthy happy deformed leaves

My Easter Babies sprouted April 16, so I fimmed two weeks ago, I think too early but just looked at girls and they are getting big, more new leaves and sprouts, so happy  I must be doing something right. Just realized none of this is in my journal, charts etc. I’m going to do pics and tag you from my journal. I really hope pics come out right side up this time haha, have to turn iPhone sideways lol

That’s what I thought too McLovin, but my girls are getting big from fimming, and two times using little big bloom and gonna start big grow, idn but soon.

A pic will surely help but by the sounds of it I think you are ok.

You start at the 1st serrated leaf. Sounds like you are ready to fim (or top). :+1:

Correct. Although it could also mean something is eating your leafs if there are chunks taken out of them. Mine usually don’t have anything missing on them just a bit deformed.
Here is a pic from one of my plants that I fimmed. I circled the deformed leafs that occurred from the fimming process.

Well I’ve recently tried to do the bud swelling though may have done it a little bit too early we shall see… there is about a 4-6weeks left for it to repair it self.

. After I did it I found out the technique works best about 2-3 weeks before harvest. So I’ll be interested in seeing if I demolished my yield or if it will recover and create some beautiful foxtails all round the inflicted damage. Muhhhahahhhh it’s frankenacience

@Wishingilivedina420state @MAXHeadRoom @Donaldj @Hogmaster

@Nugs I thought the last 2-3 weeks is when you stop cutting the buds.
From what I’ve seen on bud swelling you wait till you have a small bud at about week 2-3 of flower to top buds , then wait 7-10-14 days before cutting the tops of the bud again repeat until just before water flush. I don’t know I’ll go back and watch the video again.

How do you do this I’m interested lol but I’m interested by everything and all these plants anyways haha

@Wishingilivedina420state yeah to be honest I have no clue. I pinched just the top 1/8th of the buds. Though mine are only 2 weeks into flower. And seems there is a few different sources and styles of this technique but not with adequate documentation on the specifics. Budswelling / backbuilding

@Nugs and @Manny_FTGUTube check out my thread bud swelling test
I’ll tag y’all in . I think there is a video at the top of the thread if not go to utube and search bud swelling it’s the same video
