Is this bud rot?
I thought so , but being new to growing I thought I’d get the experts to chime in. That plant has been harvested can I just trim the rot away and still use the plant ?
If I’m not mistaken you can cut the bud rot out and keep what’s not affected, but should be sure to wash the buds prior to drying
It looks like bud rot to me, I would also cut out what not good
Yes bud rot.
Yes, you can cut it away. But be sure to get everything that looks “off”.
Also, soak all buds in peroxide/water. Do not skip this.
Yep, I concur, Rinse Your Harvest!
I peroxide bath all my harvests.
Who wants dust, or pest poop.
I trimmed away the rot today and then did a peroxide and water bath. What is the cause of bud rot ? I was still pretty happy with the end result
Humidity being too high during flower will cause this it needs airflow and humidity in the 40 to 50% range
Guess I’ll have to try a different strain next year. Will a different strain help with that? I grow in ground, can’t do much about the humidity. It’s been upper 70s and 80s all summer. Thanks for your help.
Some strains are labeled with higher resistance to mold. Use those recommendations to guide your selection next year.
Any autoflower does good in humility still have a chance but they finish a lot faster but don’t produce near as much
Thanks for the information on auto’s I didn’t know that. I guess I could put more plants in the ground to make up for the smaller yields.
Don’t you use peroxide and water to wash them? I’m going to harvest mine next week and I hope I cut all the bud rot off.
I do use h2o2/water bath after trimming…trim, bath, fan dry, into the drying box.
What mixture of peroxide to water do you use
I add 8oz 3% h2o2 to each 5 gallons of water
I usually have a 10 gal h2o2 bath and a 10 gal just water rinse.
I’ve seen recommendations for a higher percentage of h2o2, but I’d rather stay safe.
Thank you for your visual, that really helps me. I was just thinking if you wash it like your showing, does that keep your dry harvest safe from bud rot in jars?
