Breezy’s closet of love

I’ve switched over from ffof to miracle grow organic. It’s not much different in price, a little cheaper, and available everywhere. The benefit of fox farm is all the nutrients in it, but truth is I give supplemental nutrients anyway. As long as it’s a suitable medium for root growth, I can supply the rest. Kind of the same idea with growing in coco, but using soil.

Buddy you know I’m not a scientist but I would encourage you to mix that sh it in with some new stuff.

I can’t tell you exactly where but somewhere in here Leighton talks about mold threads as a pre-cursor to good fungus. Granted it’s in a process to create IMO, but that soil should come with the right kind of stuff in it. As long as you’re not getting a foul smell you should be OK.

Here are some pics of my avacado as worm food too… this stuff host mold, but the worms love it!! Just to make the point that I don’t think it’s something to be scared of, especially if you mix it around, moisten it up, and get it living again.

it expands like a mofo, but yeah you need perlite, at least like 30% perlite 70%coco

I will say that ever since I gave the Gashers the heavy defoliation she’s been droopy. She is definitely not happy with me. :worried:

yeah you mighta over did it just a lil, but its fine, the end result, maybe shoulda split it into two trims though. But i watched a video that said this will help prevent excessive stretching. so there’s that. She will be fine in no time at all. I kinda kept trimming mine, i was always removing stuff i didnt like, and still kept too much again. i gotta remember that this time.

Why do you need perlite in coco?

Idk, I’m guessing for drainage? I’ve been told 1000 times on here to add perlite. The product I bought at the store had perlite, the pot 4 pot stuff advertised here had me add perlite. Maybe air too? I’m not sure really.

I’m not really certain either, but may help aeration. Coco drains pretty good on its own in my opinion.

LOL, don’t need perlite in coco, check my coco grow, no perlite at all and plants looking fantastic, one reason I moved to coco is no need of perlite, been wanting to get rid of perlite for a while.

I soaked my coco brick in full strength Jacks 321, I wouldn’t use just water, need some nutes and calmag if not using something like Jacks 321 that has a lot of calcium and magnesium in it.

You don’t.

It’s obviously preference then. Acting like no one ever adds perlite to coco… The water idk, makes sense. Especially if you still plan on using the auto pot from what I hear. I remember Nicky being very specific on that.

I’m sure some coco growers use perlite (maybe because someone told them they needed it LOL), but certainly not needed, as straight coco drains and dries faster than peat moss with a lot of perlite added (like most potting soils). Peat moss needs perlite, coco - don’t need it but certainly can be used if one wants to.

No offense meant. Merry Christmas!
