Blue Mystic auto LED vs. Northern Lights auto CFL

water that is very close to 0.0 EC/PPM, whether from distilled, a zero water filter, or a reverse osmosis filtration system, is ideal.

In this way, you know exactly what you are giving your plants. No extra calcium, iron or sulfur from tap water, as too much of these can cause nutrient lockout of other needed nutrients for the plants, especially with hard water, which will also raise your pH to unwanted levels.

You can use hard water, as long as the hardness is almost only made of calcium, and not much above 100 ppm and better yet if it is closer to only about 50ppm, but it can still throw off your pH, and it can make things more difficult because the ppm numbers from your tap water will be added to the recommended numbers for your nutrients, and you have to correct the high alkalinity/pH of the hard tap water.

If you think about it, the reason the hard water leaves ā€œlimescaleā€ deposits on your faucets and such is because it isn’t much different than a liming agent, horticultural lime, which will also raise your pH.

Most of the time, I see most people use about 1,200 ppm of nutrients in their nutrient mix for their soil or soilless plants, in the common USA 0.5 conversion from EC. And so if your tap water has a starting PPM of 200ppm, then you add nutrients until you reach 1,200ppm, well, depending on the nutrient formula, that might mean you end up with too much calcium, iron, or sulfur, and maybe not enough of the other things like nitrogen(N), phosphorous(P) and potassium(K), if you see what I’m saying. You might be able to go up to say 1,400ppm to make sure you have the recommended NPK ppm, but again, then you might have way too much of the things that are in tap water and then maybe you have too much calcium, iron, or sulfur.

What color is your runoff @Jpositive

It is very clear. And I’m adding less than full dosage of ILGM nutes. I’ve even thought that was unusul after my last couple of grows where the runoff was darker.

Sounds to me like your soil is really alkaline take a pinch from the top put in a bowl, or cup with a little bit of water see if you get the same number

Alright. And I wanted to mention that I’m using fox farm ocean forest soil

Also if you could get a tds and ph reading when that is recalibrated they may answer most of your questions it sounds to me like your water may be blocking out certain minerals

Can you recommend a good tds meter maybe from amazon?
And could I be pouring my water too fast? I feed one gallon and I do it fairly quickly to keep it even in the pot…

No I dont think that has to do any thing and yea hang on one second, let me go get you a link for one

Update 5 weeks 2 days in soil.
Got my new tds meter and new pH meter in the mail today! I will have the results of both reading on next feeding/watering.

Here she is in the meantime, yesterday’s watering/feeding runoff was 6.0 Hopefully I’ll get that where it needs to be.
Still, she’s looking healthy!!

4 weeks! Actually three because I lost a weed due to dip in temp but still. I might have to turn in my overalls.

1 Blue Mystic auto flower
A couple water/feeding sessions later, adding a little pH , a new PH meter and she’s at 6.2 runoff!(@Majiktoker my tds meter came in and I’ll use it next feeding)
She’s 6 weeks, 3 days in soil and now I’m thinking about beginning the flushing process.
If she has a 8 - 10 week life span should I start flushing now? Amber trichomes are starting to show and pistils are beginning to curl. Here’s a peek at her with led on and off:
The two baby plants (18 days in soil) on either side of big plant are auto Anesthesia and auto Hashberry

Notice all of the beautiful aromatic trichomes! Whoever said the blue mystic is a ā€œmediumā€ aroma needs to get their smeller checked!!

Is this an outdoor grow? Be careful of drastic changes in temp.
My dad used to grow outside and it seemed like a lot of work keeping everything off the plants.
I’m a newbie but I love my closet tent grows.
Out of curiosity, what strain is that?

looking really good, lots of white hairs still, maybe wean them off nutes, continue but use less? what do you use?

they could have 3-4 weeks to go…

Thanks!
I was thinking the same thing, maybe 3 more weeks…
I use the ILGM nutes and I love them! Down to half dose of Bud and THC nutes every other water.
