Blue Dreaming of Gelato Greens

Setup the microscope today to take a few pics of trichomes as they start nearing the harvest window. I think I may still be a week or so out on the ripest of the bunch and a couple weeks out still on the two that went into flower a week later. Was further along than I had expected on the two early flowering plants though and even see a little amber maybe? See the photos from those two below and let me know what you think about timing.

Here’s updated photos of the Colas alongside the trichomes.

Couldn’t resist and ordered the AC Infinity 5x5 tent kit on the labor day sale. Also ordered a 3x3 tent that I plan to move everything from the 4x4 into and use as a veg and drying tent. Probably won’t get it all in place before this harvest but excited to have a separate space so I can pick each bud at it’s peak ripeness once I start my photos. Will probably get the seeds started in the next couple weeks instead of month since I’ll have the tents available. Also picked up the AC Infinity propagation dome kit so will be giving that a go and might even try my hand at clones on the second grow since I’ll have everything in place for it. That’s a different journal for a different day.

Really happy with where the girls are at for the first grow, but definitely a lot of lessons learned and still learning. Definitely hit them too hard with nutes and pruning at the wrong times which I think cut yields. End of life phase has been hard for me but trying to just run low feeds and a little Sensizym/Cal Mag between as needed to finish out to avoid over reacting. I am starting to see some of the classic nutrient build up signs that @MidwestGuy warned about. I even fed less than the feed schedule I originally posted which was a lower feed than the bottles, so definitely glad that advice came early and I pulled back what I did otherwise I think they’d be getting completely locked out right now at the very end. I was even considering just a week or two of Sensizym at the end to just use the build up, but seems like it may be messing with soil pH a little (leaves started curling under right after use) due to the existing build up so pulled back on that too. Already have everything but the extractor pump for the bases though to feed based on ppm on my next grow. Also planning to stage soil better so that I should really only feed around month 3. Do plan on sticking with Advanced Nutrients because I like liquid nutes for mixing, but just plan to run the Sensi main series with Cal Mag and Tasty Terpenes (Nirvana) only as needed for boosters if any deficiency shows. I will also be running voodoo and Sensizym for roots, white rhino once training is done for stem strength. Trying to be more focused on stage specific needs basically and cut the pure “boosters” because just feels like they’re definitely unnecessary at best and harmful to growth at worst. That still feels like a kind of long list though since it’s not Jack’s. Just wish my OCD were more accommodating to mixing, but I struggle with minute made lemonade.

Loving the fall colors on Cia. I didn’t realize the spectrum they could have in end of life. I think maybe a week or so until the harvest window!

Decided today I’m just going to chop this weekend and mitigate the crazy mess I’m making myself thinking about it. OCD is one hell of a drug.

Check out the trichomes I took from them today below. I tried to take these from the least ripe bud sites at about 1/4 from the top of the bud. I can still find some clear patches in places, but for the most part it’s mostly cloudy/milky with small patches of amber starting to form. I definitely don’t want anything that makes me racy, but I like my weed to wake me up while relaxing me, not put me down. So trying to edge on the side of caution with amber production.

Also Daisy, realized after the edit window I picked the wrong tiny pictures on my phone. The first 3 above are of one lower bud site that never got light. Plan to put it in oil but will definitely be trimming those next grow.
