I’m out of likes, but very nice! “It’s all adding up” is a good way to put it. You don’t know what you don’t know, or what will work best for you, until you get in there and try.
Nice. I made one of those little cans. Call it my elephant can
LOL. won’t be looking at it the same again. NOT making a mess and trying to figure out how to get the can lower than the plants is priceless.
Size wise I’d say Im just about ready to flip to flower. Do i need to get this CalMag def remedied first? I’m going to feed every day per AN suggestions but it could take a week to correct.
Keeping an eye on the leaf clawing- it’s really only a few leaves, most visible in this pic far left. They did this last time they were in the tub - I don’t think they were like that in the tent, but need to keep an eye on it, otherwise they’ll probably need straight CalMag.
I don’t think the clawing/drooping has anything to do with cal/mag. If they seem to only do it in the tub, it’s probably the humidity in there vs the tent. They look good to me, ready to flip when you are. The little bit of yellowish look is probably just from rapid growth and will likely get greener. Once they start stretching, you might see a lot of that. Keep doing what you’re doing, and they’ll do great!
Thanks for checking it out. I def have a calmag def if you look at earlier pics with the close ups. I think you are right though about the environment change and the clawing. the only thing that could maybe cause the clawing is too much N. With these bottle formulas I can’t change the ratio. I fed two days in a row to give more CaMg, but I also dosed them again with N. I’d have to flush and feed straight CalMag. I’ll check it out before I go to bed. Or… ya know… another 20 times before then. gonna wear the zipper out on the tent.
Too intense light, too much heat, or even just unhappy roots could cause a similar look. Take care of the deficiency, for sure, before flipping. But your new growth looks good to me.
ooh, well i have slowly been bumping up the intensity of the lights… supposed to be at 100% when I flip. Didn’t realize too much light could look like that. Temps have been 78-80, humidity in flux 48-55.
I guess I’ll see what tomorrow brings. I’m afraid if I veg another week they’ll grow out of the tent.
That’s a fair point, too. Just watch them and do what you feel is best. In person, you see things pictures won’t show. Hard to get the “big picture” through pictures. It looks like all your numbers are right where they should be.
Day 59. I think I need to flip soon or I may run into space issues. Fed full strength yesterday to bring up CaMg as it’s already in the Coco Sensi formula, but got a little bit of clawing. It’s still present this morning, but it’s minor. some of the leaves are a little wavy, too.
Light: ES-300 at 75%.
Temps 78-80, Humidity 48-58%
I could…
a- Ph and feed only CaMg today (and possibly eff things up by going off script)
b- do another straight AN feeding per recs and risk more N
I think your right! Better flip it if your height is limited. Without a screen to train it with it’s going to gain some height after flip.
i DO have a screen. well, it’s in pieces. I have to put it together but am oddly stuck on finding something to elevate the shelf they’re sitting on so I can get trays under to catch runoff. gotta figure that out TODAY. I swear they grew another two inches while I was out to lunch, especially the one on the right.
And now I have frosty looking WHITE stems? what is this ??
Still not sure if I should do the calmag but I may need to flip these babies tomorrow. maybe there is something to feeding everyday. sheesh. I’ve done that with this light from day one they’d have been this size in 30 days instead of 60.
Can you get a picture of it?
they actually show pretty green in pics. they’re def whiter than they were or i wouldn’t have noticed, but i think these lights play with color temp. and i couldn’t find my Ph pen so i didn’t feed the calmag today, and given the clawing was too afraid to regular feed.
and realized today the bottom of the tent has a few inch lip, so whatever bin i have at the bottom to catch runoff also has to be raised or i’ll never get it out. i got nuthin’ done today. tomorrow I need to buy a shelving unit. really need that scrog up.
I’ve got some work to do today. lost my evening to dealing with a second crackhead this week jumping my fence. knew this would happen eventually and here we are. i put the money into this light instead of building up my rear yard. sometimes this feels like a game of sim city. build up the infrastructure and fail to put money into security and in come the invasions. my little auto outdoor grow may be a liability if they caught sight of them.
but carry on.
1- get shelf unit in there so I have two tiers- one for the bottom runoff pans and one for the plants
2- get the scrog ready. i was gonna build a frame out of pvc but i may just take the easy way out this time and clip it to the tent posts and have it a little saggy. i’ll be better prepared next go round.
3- find my @#ing PH pen, calibrate and feed the calmag. still have clawing.
4- VENTILATION. i pushed this one to the back cuz i’m still not sure what to do. didn’t think ahead of time to look but the tent only has passive rectangular vents along the bottom. my original plan was to run a passive 8" duct into the hallway (this bedroom is really warm compared to the rest of the house) but square peg, round hole… and once I flip to 12/12 they gotta be sealed up anyway. having the duct run through the top down to the bottom and having two 90 degree turns doesn’t seem like a sound plan.
From something I read and will paraphrase, it is most likely too much heat and not enough air circulation. This is because it is probably not a light intensity problem because when the plants are outside, they can handle any amount the sun can throw at them… but the lights regardless create too much heat and that heat needs to be vented well. Is this true?
When I went to 12/12 it got hot really fast because of the additional bloom LEDs powering up. I installed an additional ceiling fan with no filter and that improved the airflow.
yeah that’s another reason i may need to hold off on flipping. the temp has been perfect for veg but closing up the passive air vents and bringing the light to 100% is going to crank it. i really don’t want to have to get an AC in the bedroom but not sure how else to bring the temp down. i was going to get a vent register booster from AC infinity but they’re sold out until the end of the year and reviews of other brands are bad. all i can think is to run the intake duct to the hallway where it’s cooler but i may need another fan to actively push the air in given the distance and bends in the duct. and i lose the ability to close the bedroom door.
and what’s a ceiling fan with no filter?
Probably just talking about e exhaust fan on ceiling of tent without the filter on.
