Bho extraction question

Do you decarb b4 extraction?

You do not decarb before extraction.

Even if for edibles, or is that not relevant?

That was fast!

Decarbing process takes place AFTER a extraction.
It’s much easier to control heat, when it’s in a small container. When decarbing plant material, heat isn’t always evenly distributed throughout plant material, moisture content is factor that should be considered, and I feel that there would be a terpene loss if decarbed while still on the plant.

When using refined (finished) extract should be decarbed and then used for edibles. For best results.

When extracting I use a longer soak time for edibles. The quality is less, but it’s full spectrum, and there is almost nothing left on the plant. For vaping or smoking, soak times are significantly shorter.

Jeez I need to jump on this train. I’ve got over ½lb of super sugary trim that I don’t know what to do with or how to make anything or than qwet.

How do you decarb the “dab”, and do you need to if you’re just going to smoke it? I have heard it makes the strongest edibles.
I’ve got jars of trichrome loaded trim from numerous grows. Going to extract it all:-).

If this is for smoking, it is not necessary to decarb. The heating while consuming does that.
It makes good tasting edibles, depending on how much you use it can make strong edibles. Using dab/wax for edibles maintains the flavor of the intended edible, and no weird plant tastes. Some people like it, some don’t, and some are indifferent.

This is one of the best uses of the extractor, material that would normally be wasted. I keep a trim batch, and and a nug run separate. It depends a lot on what it’s intended use is for. Trim can often have a lot more amber trichomes in it, in comparison with flower. Amber trichomes typically produce a more sedative effect, and some people prefer that. I don’t, so I separate them, according to use.

@Borderryan22 take your trim and do a dry ice hash. Then take your hash, puck it, and press it…

I’m gonna watch a couple videos now.

Wait, wait, wait. So I just need a 5 gallon sifting bag, dry ice, a bucket and tray??? Well, of course so trim, but I just watched a 1:30 sec vid and my jaw dropped.

@Borderryan22 i save all my trim and larf and throw it in the freezer. Its build up over the year, and ill get my big micron bags out, go get some dry ice, and go to sifting. The trichomes come off and youll scoop em up by the spoonfulls lol

I want to make something besides the alcohol extraction. I mean, I like the qwet, it’s just I want a more versatile, less gooey finished product.

I’m going to order a couple sifting bags. Is there a particular micron if I’m just going to be doing one run with dry ice? I’m not trying to do bubble hash

Technically it doesn’t matter, you can decarb before extraction but the wax from bho is super easy to decarb after extraction imho that’s the easier way but if you had decarbed bud already, you could blast it and have active bho.

I do as @Covertgrower, typically i use alcohol extraction fir eatables and let it soke till its near black to get a wider range of cannabinoids.

Fun fact though, we use the reclaim out of our dab rigs in eatables as it’s already been burnt, its active.

Looks like the wife cleaned it out lately  but it gets pretty full and we just spoon it out, mix it with butter or oil and cook with it.

It you dab alot it’s a source of activated thc on hand at any moment

So around 70 micron. I do more indica dominant, and know for a fact the KoolAid Breath from @Graysin has some big ol heads. Ooooooh this is gonna be fun. I have a trim bin, but only doing a handful at once becomes time consuming.
