I mixed the plant booster in with the flower time nutes to the ppm suggested. Then adjusted the ph as needed on my first grow so I don’t have a comparison.
A lot goes into the size of your buds beside nutrition.
Light intensity, temps, humidity, feeding regimen, and much more I can’t even think of right now.
I haven’t run across very many people on this forum that use the Bergman nutes.
I harvested 23 oz. With 3 autos and 2 photos using the Bergman nutes in a 4x4 tent with 480 watt light in soil 5 gallon cloth pots.
I’ve learned a lot on this forum and you won’t find another with people willing to help and share like I have found here. I would tag another user but I’m not aware of any that use the Bergman nutes.
I like to start PK boosters earlier than week 6. Not that it wouldn’t help, but having more P and K earlier on is just that much better. I use Jack’s and MKP first two weeks, then Jack’s and big bud powder weeks 2-6 andJack’s and GH liquid koolbloom til the end. There are other PK booster like canna PK 13/14 that are meant for later in flowering but I can’t speak to the quality of those or Bergman’s. Overall though I’m a big proponent of PK boosters. I’d give it a try and see how it works if I were you.
I stay away from boosters. So long as your usual PK product is used properly and you are managing runoff PPM there is no need for them and they can cause more problems than they solve. Worse than that, many “bloom boosters” are very salty and ultimately lead to a mineral salt buildup that submarines your root zone pH. Normal PK “flowering” nutes are fine on their own.
Jack’s is sufficient on its own. If you want extra PK, then simply feed more Jack’s Part A. There is no difference between using a bloom booster and some extra Part A.
Thanks, I think I will. I have been following everything else and seems to be going well. This is my first grow and I am so close and stressing about messing up so close to the finish line.
I am already planning on my second grow and the changes I gotta make, including a bigger tent and not using just any soil.
Thank you @MidwestGuy
I was thinking the booster would be counterproductive to the simplicity of jacks.
I will be using the Jacks city limits. I’m sure this still applies??
The routine I suggested is for Jack’s Part A, Part B, and Epsom. I’m not familiar with Jack’s City Limits, but the concept applies to any nute line. Boosters are bad, imho, and they create more problems than potential benefit.
The city lights kit includes a bag each of clone, jacks for tap, boost, and finish. Super simple. 1 product at a time. Plus epsom salt.
My first grow with Bergmans was awesome. Fat hard sticky buds.
My second grow I became over zealous and paid the price. Can’t blame the tool if you don’t use it correctly.
My reasoning for using jacks is the cost and it’s following in this forum
I used Jack’s last grow. Only used it with MKP during the transition into flowering. No boosters after that. Actually had the best yield I’ve had, but very small, dense buds. I think most of the weight came from one freakishly large gg4. No matter what nutrients, boosters or whatever I’m using I rarely go over 1.5 EC (750 ppm on my meter). I’ve only grown autos indoor so that would probably be higher if I was growing photo plants.
I start feeding at about 200 ppm and work up towards full strength Jack’s. I stop and back off a little when there’s tip burn. 1500 EC seems to be about the sweet spot so far. I’m feeding my current grow at 1775 EC. Starting water is around 240 EC so very close to 1500 EC.
I should probably mention I grow in coco coir/perlite and keep a very close eye on the runoff. I feed every day and can make adjustments to deal with whatever comes up right away. It’s a bit different than growing in soil.
