Benefits of SCROG vs LST

Was looking for pipe cleaners, local store was out, found 12 inchers at hobby shop.

Could these be used for training?

Looks like what I used. Worked fine.

Matter of fact, I got all that stuff and those were the only thing I used.

Sure, they should work great.

Its been awile, welcome back.

These soft wire ties from home depot work excellent. They retain enough tension to hold down the healthiest plants and gentle enough to not damage early vegging plants. I cant brag on these things enough. Theyre a little pricey at 8$+ for 2 ties but these are 18" long and i can literally just weave a single tie on a young plant and lst the entire plant.

Training can do as well or better than a scrog I think. That is if you have the room. My plants normally need close to double the room to train vs a scrog. So I am in scrogs so I can kind of contain them. I am doing a JH auto that is in a 24" x 30" scrog. It has taken up a 3’ x 4’ area now. :grimacing:
I use binder clips or safety pins the side of my pots and use regular plant ties

I think that the advantages of a scrog are better separation, support, and easier control. The main disadvantage is mobility, and access… plus you have a bit more to deal with come harvest time.
Getting the most out of scrog requires some amount of pre training, either pruning or LST or possibly both. The concept of a uniform canopy also ensures even light distribution onto the buds… highly overlooked but mega important to yeild, since artificial lighting is not so fantastic at penetration.
