Automatic Watering System for Potted

Automatic Watering System for Potted Plants,2 in 1 Automatic Drip Irrigation Kits Indoor 1.3L Tank Plant Watering System for Plants w/Programmable Water Timer,Auto & Manual Watering Mode & LED Display

So has anyone tried this or knows about this kinda thing. I read you can use a bigger nute container for larger compacity. And how do the stack up against an Autopot?

I was thinking of getting a ac infinity outlet controller and stoner engineering a drip ring system that is wifi enabled to the app

Autopots are pretty foolproof. That would be my choice.

I’d say go for it. Worse that happens is you wasted 30 bucks but could then use it on veggies, herbs, or house plants. Make sure your nutes aren’t thick etc though.

I guess this depends on what medium your goin to grow in.
Also pot size.
And number of plants you want to grow.
Can you tell me about that.

Atm im growing in a 3x3x6 tent and if im growing Autoflowers i can get 4 in there, Photos id say 2. Autos i use 5 gallon and photos 7 or 10 gallon pots. Im growing in hf soil. I know it said its a 1.3L but it can be used in a siphon capacity. In other words i can set a 5 gallon bucket up and it will siphon it from the bucket. So in short no more than 4 plants in soil. Once i get my garden funds up a little i will get an autopot set up. But not looking to drop anothef 3 to 4 hundred bucks right this moment.

You will need to also factor in something to keep your reservoir water moving around, and keeping an eye on any pH drift in it as well. After looking around here on the forum it seems that is a common controller used in that device and there are a handful of variants. Seems for the few I read it worked well for them with the above suggestions. You also might need to buy your own emitters if those that come with it aren’t up to it.

I’m more thinking of the maintenance from it plugging up. I’ve built similar with better equipment and it pluggs with nutrients to much.
Get a good preasure pump and some hose and a 5 gallon bucket and water with that. You can slow the preasure of the pump down by putting a T at the outlet and piping it back to the reservoir. With a shut off valve to control preasure comming out of other hose. Then when it plugs up you just stop the valve and push it through and your good again.
Doesn’t matter if you buy this or build your own you slill need a way to keep nutrients mixed.
Not trying to be a downer only realistic. Most reservoirs are made for water only. They don’t take nutrients into the equation.
I will add this is only my opinion.

Very interesting, i never thought about it from a nute point of view. But it does make sense.
Im glad i asked, this gives me more to think about. I got my old Ph water probe from my aquarium days. A could use a small water pump or one of my 8w airpumps to stir the water. But none the less it does get the old grey matter churning. From an engineering side id love to build something.
@DRsDank i didnt take that as being a downer, i rather enjoy constructive criticism and a spirited debate.

The best I have came up with is my coffee can system. I can water or feed 7 plants in 15 to 20 minutes including mixing nutes and phing. I could turn it into being automatic easily but would not like chasing ph. Same reason I haven’t done hydro. My water contains chlorine so I have to put it in the bucket after I’m done feeding.

Give hydro a try brother, the pH drift really isn’t that bad and takes seconds to fix. I normally have to adjust once before a res change. What I don’t like about hydro is the ppm drift. Maybe soil has it to in a way. But as your plant drinks more of the water and not taking the nutes it raises the ppm into burn territory unless you top it off now and again. Also instant adjustments is really nice.
Still my favorite way to grow any plant that isn’t a houseplant. Though I will some houseplants.

The chlorine really isn’t a big deal, especially if you run sterile. RO is a good investment though. 120 bucks and you’re set for 20k gals or more

Someday maybe. I have a brand new ro system still in the box. The only reason I would use it is for hydrophobic.

I did one of the $25 or something automatic drip pumps, and used a little wavemaker for a small aquarium to keep water moving. I believe my auto system cost $35 total on Amazon. Ive since fried the pump and went back to hand watering but its an easily doable project.

Yes an easy doable project that will nickel and dime you to death. Unless your willing to make a little investment in better pumps. I have found these pumps will last longer. Couple of things to consider. It is not a continuous run pump. You have to clean the filter once in a while. You need to run the T fitting with a shut off valve to control preasure output.
Another thing to consider is hose. Do yourself a favor and get a good quality thick walled silicone hose 1/2 inch for the intake and I find 3/8 for the outlet after the T fitting going to plants and a 1/2 again going back to reservoir. So the T should be 1/2x1/2 straight thru x 3/8 off the T.
Anyway heres the pump and if I was doing this project it would take three of them and i would buy 4. One for back up.

So i found these 2 systems which one do you guys think is better. One is gravity feed abd the other is a drip feeder.

Thoughts?

Or would this one be better?

Can only remark on the Autopots they work well I have the 2 poyt setup with 3 gal bags and works well, with that I am going to look at the SF setup and see, learn all the time here!!!

I have the happy hydro auto pots and i love them, there is probably cheaper ways to do the same thing, i dont really know, but happy hydro has awesome customer service and for me was a fantastic purchase :v:

Also 264 for four pots is a good price, just plan on buying some extra 3/8 tubing and valves if you run 4 pots.

I drilled some holes in res for a sight glass but would suggest you ad a valve at res and at each plant pot and put some type of catch basin below each splitter/valve connection. I had one failure with a split off connection than dumped 5 gallons of nutrient water on carpet in my lung room.

This up there /\ /\ is good advice, I did that first start up anything can be isolated if need be.
