And now for the outside garden update.

As some of you may know I’ll be participating in the outdoor grow off and will comment on stuff here. I was really excited to get the show in the road but then we got hit with the tornado in the St. Louis area. We are ok, sound. Lost a couple trees and spent the weekend partially helping my ex get back into his house as a tree fell on his house and Probably ruined his deck. Cut up most the wood I could and have a few big limbs that might get shaken loose tonight in the next big storm coming.

Today was the first day I had time to go around. Was up at 0600 outta habit in my Vacation week…

It’s bad. So bad.

Trees I had picnics under in Forest Park (st Louis’ place for museums and the 500 acres of forest) are uprooted, splintered, twisted and gone. Buildings in the area with 150+ yr old trees are now destroyed. The biggest thing here is the size of the path. A mile wide is reported

Very rarely do I get emotional. Side effect of being an oncology nurse for this long. But I couldn’t take a single Photo. I sat in my truck and cried.

Came back home and dropped some beans.
Time to make the world green again

Good too hear that you’re ok! I feel you’re pain with the trees but at least it was “natural” per say. And will likely get used. It always makes me sick to see old trees go down. It’s nothing to see “them” clear cut a wood lot for some huge warehouse. They are clearing one now, on my way to work, and mulching everything. No time to waste.:face_with_symbols_on_mouth::exploding_head:

Glad you are ok @TransplantedFarmgirl , been a bad yr for trees, and sorry to hear of all the destruction, we had 20 acres plus just gone from Ice storm, place will be a mess for yrs.

That’s all I could think is it will take years to undo a 10 min storm. And how much that is gone can’t be repaired or replaced

Not much any of us can do or say to fix that, but sorry you’re going through it. Keep the chin up and moving ahead.

Appreciate you, @dbrn32

I’m lucky. I have electricity and can fix what is broken here. Lots have it much worse. Seeing it all gone, though, was a hit I wasn’t prepared for.

I sort of felt that way when I saw the damage from the 1999 Derecho around the end of the Gunflint Trail. Total and absolute destruction!

Kinda odd, all the buds in one of the plants had this triple bud formation on every branch. Anyone with a clue what that might be?

Congratulations on another fine harvest!

It sounds like a mutation called whirled phyllotaxy. I presume it had three leaves at every node also. I’ve had a couple that have done that, looks cool growing and 1.5 X the bud ain’t bad either :slightly_smiling_face::call_me_hand:

It is a freak of nature! Dry it, roll it up in paper, and destroy it by immolation.

Thanks for the knowledge! I have this plant revegging to see if it holds out for another flower. If so I’m gonna clone it. It’s cool :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
