First grow, trying to figure out how soon I need to look at flushing and harvesting. Started Flower on 06/25. Any advice is welcome.
These last 2 are from my smaller plant that was sick during Veg, but it seems to be the more frosty of the 2.

My Tops are way to close to the light but there’s not much I can do light is all the way up. I am most definitely seeing the effects as the buds just an inch or two down look so much more frosty than the top. There is also some lite bleaching going on. Almost wish I would have toped it in flower.
In answer to your first question. No. ![]()
Still a few weeks yet.
The pistils will recede back into the bud when they are getting close.
Also make sure you’re looking at the buds themselves not the sugar leaf as they will mature faster than the flowers.
For your height issue you can pull the tallest tops over a bit to spread them out some.
Might gain you a few more inches clearance.
Got a pic of how your light is hung ?
Might be able to grab another inch or two there as well depending.

Plants just went to sleep @5:30 I will get a pic of the light tomorrow but its already touching the exhaust fan. Next grow I think I am going to place the fan outside the tent and rearrange my intake setup to get more head room. Wish I would have flipped sooner but the smaller plant was sick and wanted to wait till it recovered. I could move them out a bit more, I had to tie them up but I have some room for adjustment. I am slightly worried that the large plant buds are to big and preventing them from getting really coated in trichomes like the smaller plant.
Some more pics of the buds up close.
Jeez, you need to be a professional photographer. Wow. Wish I could take pics like that.
What’s your camera / lens?
So they won’t just turn red/orange they will also turn back in? I have some buds that are almost all orange on pistils but they are still sticking out like a crazy hairdo.
Have faith and lots of practice ![]()
Yeah, those pics are the best I’ve seen for trich shots. No confusion there. I just posted this chart on another thread with same question. Hope it helps you decide when based on what you are looking for from the high.

It will get serious somewhere around day 70.
Super cropping was probably the play.
I am also a fan of topping and LST
Thanks I appreciate it, sorry for the delayed response did not log in for a while. I just use my phone camera for the pics. Its an S22 and it has optical zoom up to 3x. I use a combo of the auto and manual focus and it seems to work out great. For the Tricomes I bought a cheap $35 digital microscope. I thought it would help but it appears that my plants are all over the place. Some up top (that are to close to the light) look like they could go for a while, but just an inch down they look pretty good with mostly cloudy trichomes.
@ShockDog
Good to know, my smaller plant that for whatever reason appears to be further along I am just now seeing the pistils recede. The larger one is mostly red/orange now except for the tips close to the light.
@beardless
Yeah I kind of went all in on my first grow and did a mainline. After the first trim I super cropped the two halfs. One place I learned I need to improve is support. I need to get nets or something, almost lost both plants when I opened the tent. I had to call my wife on the phone to have her bring out some cord so I could support them. My poor hairy arms got covered in resin trying to keep them from breaking till she came to the rescue.

Dang that is a close up pic. Not sure what power your scope it but it much higher than mine. I also love Trichome pics they really look like they are not from this world.
Well think I am going to harvest this weekend. It looks like my smaller plant went from close to done done in no time at all. Probably lost some potency but that’s ok, it is my first run so all the things to learn and I am just glad I made it to here without any catastrophic issues. Not sure if I need to flush or if its worth it I know that is a hot topic for some reason. I have also seen some people do a 24-48 hr. dark period, but again don’t really know seems to be bro science.

Yeah, bro. That smaller one is definitely good to harvest but that larger one still has a TON of white pistils and I wouldn’t be surprised it it’s trichomes were still clear to be honest. Unless you have a TON of foxtailing which is creating the less mature pistils but I don’t think that is what we are looking at. My opinion (unless the trichomes tell a different story and you DO have a ton of foxtailing) is that you are at least three weeks out on that larger one.
