Completely agree! You get Cheryl and Otto going and it’s on lol!
I love the lab forum! As Rob said; there is a different dynamic to some of the grows and perhaps some more advanced material available. It’s the same caliber of people here in that everyone is friendly with no jealousy or agenda other than helping you grow great cannabis.
I like it because the bulk of the knuckleheads I interact with daily are on both sides. I fit right in haha!
Maybe? I don’t necessarily feel it’s a bad thing, and probably why it feels more family oriented there. I will say there is a lot less newb oriented chatter. Just about everyone there has basics covered.
I’d also have to say that the answers tend to get more in depth over there. Experimenting seems to be encouraged a little more, perhaps due to the percentage of experienced growers being at a higher ratio.
I agree that the chatter is close to the same amount, but, I don’t know, more tight knit.
I guess I’m saying the same thing in a different way.
Thanks for the replies. I LOVE this forum. Everyone is willing to help and don’t act like jerks. And I appreciate every bit of help I get, Lord knows I need it.
The $20 special offer gave access to the lab forum but not the lab. I’m considering joining the lab, when funds allow and aren’t eaten up with stuff like an unexpected hot water heater replacement. I agree with what others have said about it. There are fewer noob questions and posts and that’s part of what keeps me coming back here. With just 1 year under my belt I’m no expert but I do have some experiences I can share.
In the Bergman’s Lab, it’s true that you will see some small friendly talking…
However, the ability and permission to make PM make all the difference in the world… IMHO…
Also, if you want personal and accurate scientific knowledge, well, the Lab is the place to go and be.
That doesn’t mean that you can’t find accurate support here, on ILGM forum, I am only saying that it’s harder to get one… And sometimes, accurate support is flooded and overwhelmed with inaccurate support tried…
That’s it that’s all my dear friends… And it’s all I have to say about that…
There are definitely advantages of joining the lab. There are more experienced growers, and if something comes up and you’re completely stumped, there are others that will assist you with the issue.
There’s less BS’ing, but it’s less random posts of some random person dropping in, and the threads flow better? But there’s still bs’ing.
I really enjoy getting to know everyone’s grow set up, with better details, so that you have an understanding of how everyone’s grow space operates.
There are failures, there are thefts, and everyone is pretty open about that. Part of learning to be successful are from what went wrong.
Overall I wish I found the lab first, but I don’t regret joining, after all, ILGM and I’ll be doing this passion for awhile. So why not grow among friends?
Got there just before lights came on. Dern humidity was 95%
Ran a dedicated circuit for a/c, and brought in the dehumidifier. Without dehumidifier, humidity dropped to 57% in less than an hour when the lights came on. I will check this evening to make sure it’s not too low. If it is, I will put it on a timer to run while lights are off. Was going to run dedicated circuit for dehumidifier, but ran out of wire. I’ll pick some up this week.
Added 10gal water
5ml dechlorinator
20ml hydrogaurd
10ml pH down
PPM - 958. PH - 5.9
I joined I LOVE GROWING MARIJUANA October 2015 after lurking around for six months or so…lol, many days there were no “problem” posts, this free forum was an empty room with few regular posters…it got busier, much more so, and some great advisors came and moved on.
the free side became a beginner’s class for growing…Keep it simple and standard…there’s one way to start a seed, when to put it in grow media, when the veg stage started, when to top, when to start nutrients…
the paid side is a lot more free form, lots of independent trains of thought and actual attempts using them.
because you pay for the Lab Forum, you have lots more freedom in posting links, personal messaging is allowed and active…and you can swear!
the advice given tries to be more personal and useful.
this side is the gateway drug, the Lab side the next step up.
@Grandaddy013 Got there just before lights came on. Dern humidity was 95%
U need that dehumidifier running all the time then 95% is going to ruin your crop. That’s a mold setup and I hope you fix it you can get mold at anytime not just in flower so ck the plants for white or gray mold even in to corners of your grow area and get they humidity below 70%
This! I solved for this problem by following the advice of Bob and @Countryboyjvd1971 - by controlling the room my tent is in first. I keep the basement at 50% RH. Then I use smaller devices in my tents to increase or decrease RH… in my veg tent I have a small humidifier and am able to keep the RH in there around 65-70%. In my flower tent, I have a small dehumidifier and can keep the humidity to 40% with lights on and 45% with them off. It took my a LOT of tweaking with fans and times and ducting and all that jazz to get it relatively stable… I still have heat problems (haven’t solved for cooling yet).
But on my most recent plant I got bud rot inside - we had a monster heat wave with super high humidity and I didn’t have the horsepower to keep it down - humidity got up to 80% in my flower tent for a couple of days… right when I cut down an outdoor auto that had bud rot. I think I probably invited it into my flower tent and then gave it great conditions to grow.
Thankfully I found it very early, found it in three tops, which I removed and salvaged about 60% of… I harvested the whole plant last week (a week before I wanted to) but haven’t found anymore mold.
When I was there, about 2pm today, humidity was 51%. It will probably be this weekend before I can check to see what it is just before lights come on. They were looking pretty good today. Got one tied down some more, and started on the other before I had to leave.
This is a bedroom approximately 13x13. I have some panda film hanging for a wall, and just got some more to put on ends to try and keep in a little more light. My Scrog nets are 4x4 each, and being disabled, I have to be able to get all the way around them for “lawn maintenance”. I did however add another small fan today, and would order another one if y’all thought it would help. I really don’t know why humidity is getting so high, unless it’s because I’m hydro instead of dirt. Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.
I get humidity peaks at night too… I run a dehumidifier and an A/C almost 24/7 to keep temps and humidity where I want then (in a basement tho). I still get 60-65% humidity peaks at night in the tents. Guess less heat and evaporation from the leaves = more humid.
