Advice on a new light wattage

I have been using a Viparspectra 1200w led and I am 2 weeks into flower. the plants look good and are starting to bud but I have a new hlg 550 v2 Rspec coming tomorrow and was wondering if I should start it out at full intensity or dim it down and raise the intensity after a few days

I would definitely start out at lower intensity. Then over a period start turning up. I have Viparspectra’s and as far Amazon lights go they aren’t bad. The 550 Rspec are light years ahead of Viparspectra. Something else to consider is if you are not using cal mag you will probably need to start with these new LEDs.

thanks for the reply. Ya this viparspectra did pretty well for $300 but I am super stoked about the new hlg 550. I use cal mag about once every 2 weeks so maybe ill start adding it to every regular feeding.

Definitely run it down; those of us using these high-efficacy lights are finding moderate power levels seem to do a fine job meeting daily light interval. But I’ll bet that Vipar can be used in a separate veg tent…

I give it on ‘water only’ days. Kind of makes things easier to hit my TDS for feedings if it’s not in there.

I still use my 450w Viparspectra for seedlings and early veg. :+1:

Bump the calmag up or you’ll see it with the new light.
