Yes indeed
You will find the more you post the more opposite ways of growing you will het thrown at you.
I suggest you stick with one grower and learn as much as you can from him/her.
@Hellraiser is a season veteran and has shown me a trick or two.
I suggest you follow his journal and do a lot of reading and a lot of question asking.
Patients is the key lol.
Good luck
Yeah best to follow the advice of one experienced grower, does not have to be me, there are plenty on here. The problem comes with too much advice from different grower methods, and if you just do some of this growers methods and some of another growers methods, then it may not go well as there may be things that are not compatible. Follow one growers methods until you get a successful harvest and then use what you learned and develop your own grow style and methods that work best for you.
Also check out my first coco grow journal, lots of info for coco growing if you decide not to give up on coco. I love growing in coco and never going back to soil.
Iâll add one more thing. Seriously, start a grow journal and tag a few people in. Heck, tag me in if you donât know who you want and Iâll help you find the right mentor. That way whoever is helping can follow your journal, see history of the good and bad, and be MUCH better positioned to be able to help.
I can all but guarantee that if you stay engaged with this community at the right level youâll get from seed to smoke with few issues.
And read the journal linked above. I know I did as soon as I decided to switch to Coco.
I have seen this statement several times on the forum and can not understand how someone can toss a healthy seedling just because it âdidnât grow fastâ or âisnât big enoughâ. smh
So no root growth or anything??? Doubtful.
After 5 days this is what my seedlings look like. Every time they sprout and immediately stop growing. 2 weeks from now theyâll be the same size. No growth. No new nodes bit appear healthy. Absolutely maddening. Again, water PHs. 77 degrees 85RH. Fail.
It looks like youâre treating the coco like soil from a watering perspective. That looks waaaay too dry.
Also remember that there are 0 nutrients in Coco. Even though the plants will feed from the cotyledonâs for a while, you should still be supplementing with nutes following an appropriate schedule from day 1.
One last thing, some do, some donât, but perhaps try putting a dome over them for a bit. Cut off bottom from a 2L container works great.
Thses seedlings will never grow from this point. I have no understanding of why this happens.
I literally watered to run off yesterday. LoL
See what I mean? I have no idea anymore. I can no longer trust myself or the information I am getting. None of it yields any difference in the results. My fifth attempt. Nothing. Ordered my last seeds and picked up some soil. How long it will take me to understand how to grow in soil, never grown anything a day in my life, remains to be seen. I know nothing about the medium. ![]()
Assuming these pics are recent and theyâre still alive, donât give up on them yet. I like that you have a backup plan, but those little seedlings do look healthy and you should be able to get them going.
Those airpots look small, youâre going to have to water at least daily in those if not 2x per day once they start growing & really drinking. Do you intend those pots to be their final homes?
What are you using for your nutrient line? If you donât have nutes Iâd recommend Jackâs 3-2-1 as its easy to use, and frankly it wonât be wasted $ as itâs suitable for use in Coco as well as soil if you do end up going with Happy Frog or similar soils later (once the nutes in the soil get used up in ~ 4 weeks).
What kind of meter are you using to measure your PH?
Thanks. Already tossed them. They got no chance bro. I purposely used seedling pots this time. No change. I watered them the same as my buddies who are successful Coco growers. No change. I had him verify everything this grow. Same setup as he has but a better tent and better lighting. Mine fails. His doesnât. In theory same same ALWAYS yields an identical result. Apparently I am really good at disproving proven theory. I give up. Moving to soil to see if I can figure it out there. If not, Iâm done.
Why can I never remember this word much less spell it correctly?
Sorry to hear that, and understand the frustration. Start up a journal when youâre ready to get started in the soil and weâll get you growing!
Aww man that sucks, I feel your pain
I hope you get things going well in soil
Thank you Hellraiser. I will definitely take a look at your grow journal. I can use all the help I can get!
No worries. Better to move on than remain frustrated. Not hating on Coco Coir. Itâs just that I clearly do not have what it takes to grow in that medium. Not really a big deal. I just was stubborn. I should have moved to soil after my second or third fail. In my mind I was going to âconquerâ the medium. Not possible. I donât have the talent. Maybe I do have the ability to grow in soil. Weâll see shortly. Iâll post pics as well. My greatest concern is that now I need to learn how to grow in soil. I have no idea. Never grown a blade of grass let alone cannabis in soil. So now I gotta read up on how the medium works and how to water it correctly and pray I can get it right. Otherwise, my time as a grower will end. If you donât have the talent move on. I hate people with no talent that keep trying to hang on. Kick rocks! Find something else to do. That includes me.
Iâll leave you with this for now⌠Below is a link to my first grow journal. Iâm NOT saying to necessarily follow it, but it will show that not all of us come out of the gate swinging⌠I made plenty of mistakes including starting in Miracle Grow (which some have success in but Iâd personally not do again), some PH problems, plenty of questions, etcâŚ
Youâll also see how this community jumped in to help me correct issues. I would not have had a successful grow without that journal and without this community helpingâŚ
Reading some of the grows from VERY experienced growers like @Hellraiser helped me a LOT, but as a new grower sometimes you need to see the warts as well and know its ok to feel lostâŚ
BWAHAHAHA! In what universe???
Never met a real seer before. Can you give me a few lotto numbers? Just 5 out of 6 would do nicely.
@Aiconic , Hello
I have read all your posts and topics you started. You and I are much alike. I too have a similar background. Growing was a difficult skill to learn for me because its not âMechanicalâ in nature.
I am going to give you a life changing piece of advice hereâŚ
Quit trying to control the plant, and just let the plant control you.
Meditate on that a few days and you will come to understand what I mean.
And stop throwing away living plants.
Thatâs what Iâve been thinking
