And should I be topping these plants? I only got a 1m×1m×2m tent will the plants fill out to much being topped?
Do it now to encourage better growth you won’t regret it
That’s big enough for one big plant or a couple of smaller ones. You should plan accordingly. If you are doing only one then let the plant fill out to about half of your available space, vertically. You do need to subtract the distance to the lights and the distance of the lights from the top of the tent.
There are a number of techniques you can use to increase yields; supercropping is the easiest and most effective for the least effort IMO. If you are growing autos then you should be cautious of doing much beyond some LST on them.
So if two smaller plants do I let them fill approx half my space between them? Or do I allow a bit more room for growth. I was looking at simple lst techniques like bending the plant 90 degrees which sounds very easy. Haven’t looked into super cropping much will have a read now. Cheerw
Are these photos or autos? If they are photos it would be advisable to top or fim to develop a number of colas. You are going to want to fill the horizontal space and get everything topped and pointing up before flipping. They will grow upward then. Plan on up to 40% of the plant height in stretch.
They are photos. Alright so top both now give another 4 weeks or so then should I top again? Not concerned on time so if it takes 6 months it’s all experience. I had an auto white widow in there until about 2 weeks ago was up to 5th set of leaves but it was the main source of my gnat problem. Always saw the little buggers crawling up through the soil so she had to go.
Basically just let the plants tell you what to do. Don’t be too aggressive until you’ve got a grow under your belt. FYI gnats are a sure sign of over watering which will keep oxygen from getting to the roots. Drying out the media and applying some food grade DE will usually solve the problem.
Personally; I top as soon as I start to see rapid growth and top aggressively.
Yeah I was over watering got that sorted straight away then I watered a couple of washes of diluted neem oil through and they haven’t been back since. I’ll start to ph the water next week and give it a week see how it goes then I’ll top.
Maybe just top one to see the results and keep one untopped for the bigger main cola come harvest. Are your plants experiencing stunted growth? Measure them every few days to monitor growth because for their age they are tiny!
Was thinking I would top the smaller one. Yeah man that’s what the post is about wasn’t sure why they were small. I had a lot of issues early on in the grow with cold temps, gnats and overwatering but fixed all problems very quickly and saw a turn around. I have ph up/down ordered and on the way and will start monitoring ph levels. I measure them every single morning when I check on them first thing. The one on the left grew half an inch taller over night so I’m hoping to see some more rapid growth. Anymore advice would be amazing and if you need more info or pics more than happy to provide. Cheers.
What should run off ph be?
Expect it to be low 6s. What was runoff?
Still waiting on my kit expecting today or tomorrow. Holding off watering as long as I can until it arrives just preparing.
And how long is a seedling a seedling?
My guess is its a seedling from sprout until about 2-3 weeks and then I would say its entered vegetation cycle but it varies
Thanks. Haven’t been able to find much info on the matter.
I did my ph test today I tested my water to 6.5 and watered each plant till I got about 30% run off still getting the hang of watering. I tested my run off water and it’s somewhere between 7.0-7.5 so does that mean my soil ph needs to be lowered?
Yes you want ph in soil to be between 6.3 and 6.8
how do I lower my soil ph?
Flush your pot with 6.3 water until run off test in between 6.3 and 6.8. It may take a lot of water thou
