Hi all, I have blueberry x skunk and I’m fairly close to harvest. I’m getting leaf loss on my lower and middle leaves. More than I would like and I’m a little worried. Are my leaves dropping because harvest is close or am I looking at magnesium problems. I’m losing 4-6 leaves a day over 4 plants. The rest of my leaves look super healthy. This has just started over the past week. Growing in compost. 8 hrs light from 600w hps. Not keen on manipulating nutrient levels in case I muck up. Any ideas

If it’s only a few leaves this is perfectly normal. The plant gets rid of old beat up fan leaves to make room
Not knowing your ph or ppm is gonna be difficult to say. Do you have any pictures of entire plant in natural light? Also curious as to why you’re flowering on 8 hour light schedule?
I’m guessing that your composted soil (would be nice to know WHAT soil) doesn’t contain enough mobile Nitrogen. However; out of range PH would cause a lockout. Soil PH if wrong will cause nothing but trouble. Really need more data so we can help you.
So, I could rinse my compost, keep the water and measure the ph. That takes care of that bit. Next is the compost, it’s just store bought stuff that I’ve used in the past with no issues. I will go take pics and measure the ph. Be back shortly
My temperature is low, between 50 & 60f so I need to address that bit. Not sure how relevant the tds is though. I thought that was more hydroponic than soil. As you can see my experience is limited.
That 100 to 200 TDS indicates the plant is hungry. As your plant is flowering, the yellowing fan leaves are normal. You are going to need to amend your soil with something. (did you verify it was 100 to 200 because some of these meters have X10 display that pops up and is hard to see. If your TDS is that value you are going to have to introduce nutrients.
My bluelab wand was flashing between 100-200 for tds. These wands seem to be near enough going by reviews so I will use that as a benchmark. What should my tds be reading and do I go back to 12 & 12 for my lights. Also my nutrient, do I keep my P&K high but add more N?. In flower your runoff should be in the range of 900 to 1,100 ppm (NACL scale–500) during mid flower. I like the GH stuff and would likely give it a dose of bloom nutes and cal mag. I like using the “Lucas” formula and you can look that up. Basically micro and bloom in a specific ratio. This will give you a good bolus of N, P and K and would suggest at every other watering. PH to your soil value.

Ideally you should be around 78F and maybe 50% RH right now. Look up ‘Vapor Pressure Deficit’ as well and you can print a chart to reference. This helps mobile nutrients migrate between the roots and canopy. High temperatures cause increased uptake which causes nute burn FYI. Conversely; too low and not enough movement occurs which of course means the plant isn’t growing.
You can tailor your nutrient regime to the plant once you have a ‘loading dose’ of nutes on board your soil. When you get there, tag me.
On it, I’ve switched my fan onto a timer and gave my plants a dose of nutes. I will get a thermostat to control both fan and heater when funds allow. Next is google to start my research. Ive put my light back to 12 and 12 as well. Complicated stuff this horticulture. Thank you again for all your help
