It was a bit much at this stage but it has lot of time to grow. The main reason for defoliating is to give it more airflow to prevent mold or powdery mildew. If you’re tring to get more sunlight to the inside you can always manipulate the leaves and branches to open her up. At this point in the game the leaves are whats making her grow. Thats where she gets all her energy. Shell grow more so its not that much of a issue. There will be times when heavy defoliating is necessary. Thats usually at the beginning of flowering and 3dr week of flowering. Casual defoliating while in veg is necessary but those leaves are obvious. At the beginning of flowering you’re doing it to eliminate any unnecessary bud sites and branches that would have taken resources away from the the better buds and colas. Week 3 is when you eliminate everything you missed at week 1

Very nice plants by the way reminds me of some gorilla grows we used to do wrapped in wire fencing to keep the deer and rabbits from eating to much.

@plumbdand well my thought process was opening them up and exposing all lower bud sites to allow growth in exchange I should probably have 20 or better tops per plant when the time comes, I was concerned about letting it grow up to high because i get wind sometimes that cuts right through my white birch plot so I wanted to widen and lower the plants center of gravity :man_shrugging:t2: I’m curious to see the progress come the beginning of august

I understand I just think you removed too much too early. I get 20-30 and more tops by fimming and or just bending them over.

This was super cropped and only a couple of leaves were removed. You’ll get a bunch of colas but removing that much this early and during veg can slow down growth during the best part of the veg cycle.

@plumbdand well we will see how it turns out in the next week to see if it will be negative or positive results

@Naturalmedsman they have all responded positively from the LST and defoliation so I’m content haha I’m not sure if I will be prepared for the harvest though :joy: best total year so far was just over a pound, I’m thinking it will be close to 7 this year or better :flushed: definitely will be throwing at least half of it in the freezer for edibles

I have a question about Fan Leaves in General, I prune the ones that are turning yellow, and some green ones that prevent air flow, So are all fan leaves the same , some get very big and some stay small, seems like the Big ones come at the onset of the veg stage , while the smaller ones follow, I don’t cut the real big ones unless they yellow and dieing , if what im saying makes any sense

@Nip so normally a yellow leaf yes absolutely pluck them, to get right to the point if the leaf is in the way of any direct sunlight to the undergrowth whether it is big or small in my case since I used LST and spread them out I would pull it basically in order for the underdeveloped portion to catch up to the rest by increasing the light exposure to the smaller leads on the lower section.

Before defoliation with LST from the cage

After defoliating

@Nip that is my logic anyway haha we will have to see how it turns out but this will be the first time I’ve ever really tried to mold a plant to the way I want it to look, been growing for a long time but topping and super cropping are the only techniques I used and I saw my plants maybe one time every 1-2 weeks.

Those are some nice looking plants they’re gonna be bushy for sure. Nice work on the LST. I bet you get a lb or more from each one. Its all about spreading them out or bending them over. I haven’t let a plant grow natural without topping or fimming or bending/lst in years. You’re gonna end up with more weed than you’ll know what to do with. My best was 5lbs from one plant. Ive had a bunch of 3lb plants. I still have a bunch of weed from 2 years ago. Ive got totes full of buds from last year that I haven’t even tried yet. I give away weed all the time. There was a time in my life where I was scraping resin from my pipe or saving roaches until i had enough to roll a joint. Nowadays I throw away buds that fall on the floor. I still have part of a plant hanging in my drying shed from last year. Im waiting for monsoon season and the humidity to get back to above 60% to rehydrate it. Its an ongoing experiment.

Im smoking from a bag of popcorn Bud’s I saved from Bruce Banner last year, not being stored in containers it lost taste, amazingly it still pretty good, looks like I’ll be hanging some fresh earlier that expected, I don’t see these Re Veging , I’m thinking maybe some autos may have gotten mixed in by mistake rather than the cooler than normal spring temperatures

Not going to complain, just going to smoke them :man_shrugging:
