Update 2/22

Well things are off to a great start! Nice and green and growing. The toppings took well and started to take off. The LST is going good as well. I have about 24 days till I put them into flowering. Watered last night with plain water the are a bit dark green. So give them a rest from some nutrients.

Still having edit issues. There’s no little pencil icon available after the initial update.
Lily the runt

Lily has just started the pistil popping stage of flower. Second pic is of the soil section of my grow. That’s Lily front and center with her sisters off to the right and three Cherry OG in the back row. Also a White Widow in the foreground to Lily’s left.

So my editing button has gone now too. Here’s my pure indica in the flower tent getting comfortable in the scrog. She’s got good role models behind her.

Update
The plants are just over three weeks old since popping out of the ground. One plant has some lightening of the leaves, and I suspect it is minor light bleaching from the QB304 which was only about 6" above them. I raised it to about a foot. However, they also have not had a feeding yet, just straight water. I’ll be watching the leaves closely.

I continue to struggle to keep the humidity above 60% and the temps are around 80F. I am not where I want to be to for best VPD. I put the humidifier directly in the tent, but there was no appreciable difference in humidity compared to it being in the lung, and it stays between 50-55%.

Today will also be their first night at 18/6 and will monitor the impact on temps and humidity.

Next Steps
Now that the plants have filled out the pot, I will begin adding a 1/4 dosage of “start” formula this week and transition to “grow” next weekend. I will be watering more frequently to runoff and taking some pH and ppm measurements to gauge how the soil environment is doing.

What’s changing from my original plan?
I purchased and installed an inkbird bluetooth device to try to better monitor and dial in the temps and humidity to improve the VPD.

So I hope im doing this right but none the less my weekly update. Shes looking so beautiful and that dark GG evergreen color is so prevalent in all her fan leaves and sugar leaves. I love growing GG so much she is truly so beautiful from beginning to end.

Count those leafs baby!!

Drewsiah The Great

So im gonna make him some sort of scrog because I know those colas are gonna be nice and heavy. Im done topping now just scrog then switching prob on the 1st of march. Been feeding this fool Organic nutes by General Hydroponics. I love them and had great results last harvest. I do use a little secret weapon during flower but ill mention that when the time comes.

Here’s Lily. She’s finally gone off to flower. It’s about time too being an auto and all. At the beginning, I was worried I would have to slow my auto entry somehow to finish closer to you period growers. Lily took 7-8 weeks from seed before self flipping to flower. That gave her some nice growth in the wait.
Only 16 inches tall, but 26 inches wide. What a cute little weed shrub.

Update
The plants are about 30 days old. The soil was extremely dry today after going about a week without watering. I have been babying them and they are ready to be watered like adults. They were watered to runoff with “start” ILGM nutes at 1/4 strength and 5.8pH. No runoff was measured. Once watered, they each received a 1T dosage of “Oregonism”, a microorganism supplement, via a half liter of 5.8 pH’d water. This is the second microorganism feeding, which will continue every other week until the plants show flowers.

I have been able to stabilize the humidity around 60% as long as I keep up with filling the humidifier, which needs to be filled twice a day.

I have been consistently raising the QB304 board up every other day or so to keep them about 12" above the plant tops. There have been no further signs of light burn.

The plant that was topped is in the lead to be the chosen on. In looking at the FIM’d plant, I am thinking it was a bad FIM. It looks like I just cut the leaves in half, instead of stunting it so four main branches emerged. I will watch and see, but the topped one is definitely fuller and bushier.

There are no signs of white powdery mildew. Some of the lower leaves are exhibiting some minor discolorations that appear to be from touching the soil, as well as nutrient splashing. I trimmed off a few of the bottom leaves, as a result.

Next Steps
Based on today’s level of dryness, they need to be watered every 2-3 days. The next watering will be with “grow” formula. I need to be more disciplined with measuring the pH and ppms of the runoff.

What changing from my original plan?
Given the problems I have had with white powdery mildew with my older plants, I am considering giving them a proactive wipe down with 9:1 water:H202 as a preventative measure.

Update
It’s was a quiet week. The QB304 lamp has been raised to the top of the tent. Humidity in this tent has been stable at 60% as long as I keep with the filling the humidifier. The temps are around 78 degrees. The plants seem to be happy, are growing vigorously, and have no signs of leaf issues with the exception of lower leaves that have been in contact with the soil. They were watered yesterday at 5.8pH with a 1/4 dose of “grow” formula. The runoff was about 1400ppm and 6.0pH.

There are no signs of WPM, knock on wood.

Next Steps
Stay the course - just keep watering with 1/4 dose “grow” at 5.8pH and keep an eye out for any problems.

The plants have two more weeks at 18/6. Over the next week or two, I will defoliate some of the underbelly.

What’s changing from my original plan?
In a prior update, I noted putting these ladies right into my late flowering room and bypassing the early flower tent that houses my QB132s and Maui Wowie. I wanted to see the QB132s flower the MWs, but they are close to the light and I am seeing the impact. So I may consider reversing this decision.

The Chosen One - she’s has a nice bushy canopy as a result of her topping

The Bad FIM - the main cola has resumed vigorous growth

My pure indica in 10L pot is my competition plant. It’s just entered week 3 of flower now.

Sunday update Lily has responded to the light by staying squat and bushy. She has way more bud sites than her sisters she started the competition with. If the size of her sisters buds indicate anything, this plant should be a producer.

And two pix of her sisters current buds…

Reefer Rods GG4 Comp Plant Update

Sunday 20190310-16:44

She starts her very first week of official flower today. Transistion week went good as we now have beautiful white pistols. So I decided to build her a DIY scrog and I cropped her as well. Im trying to figure out how im going to make sure the plants stretch past the scrog before getting big colas. I have my 450W LED 24" away at the moment to help promote a little stretching.

Before super cropping.

After :mage:

Had alot of fun making my very first DIY scrog. @raustin I know you can’t reply but I hope your proud!

We are officially into Flowering  :seedling: :sun_with_face::droplet::tulip:

I love GG#4 so much. I just love strains that are so caked in trichomes. Until next week yall

Today was a busy day bleaching. The late flowering room, which is the converted shower and bathroom, was bleached head to toe. Everything disposable was trashed like the mylar and plastic covering the window. All the fans and equipment, with the exception of the lighting, were dunked under a tubful of water/bleach solution and dried. The lighting was carefully washed, avoiding the LEDs, with a paper towel dampened with more bleach/water solution. My hands are dried out and my fingerprints feel gone.

The Chronic Widows were moved in. The upside is they are in a WPM free environment. The downside is that I detected the first WPM spot on an underbelly leaf.

Today was to be the first day of foliar feeding per the Flower Power nutrient schedule. I took a gamble and, in addition to foliar feed, I added some H2O2 at about a 1:9 water/nutrient ratio. I sprayed them down head to toe with this solution at lights out.

They also received their latest dosage of the microorganism supplement Oregonism, about 2T in one liter of pH’d water split between the two plants. This was added after watering with grow formula to significant runoff.

Next Steps
This is the last week of 18/6 lighting and I’ll pick my final choice next Sunday.

Depending on how the plants respond to the H2O2 spray, tomorrow I may take clones from both plants and defoliate.

What’s changing from my original plan?
I have ended up bypassing the 2x4 tent and the QB132s. I’ll continue the preventative maintenance of the H2O2 and foliar spray combo if they respond to it well.

Hard to see in a slightly blurry pic, but that’s an early detection of a white powdery mildew spot in the dead center of the photo.

@Sixpackdad Those buggers are really messing with you brother!..I think the MG I used for the first grow was the source of my infestation. The FF is all good so far. I did a two week daily regimen of neem oil spray a month ago and seems that all is clear. Also have the humidity up to 65-70%. I read that helps. Im surprised your still working the blurple in. They drove my temps way up. Love my QB so far. Much different grow for me than the first. Goodluck!!

Well, here we are exactly 90 days from seed drop of three ILGM Northern lights autos. After a rocky start on the 2nd of 3 seeds, I had a tall plant with Sativa tendencies, a short bushy plant with indica fat leaves with a Giant center coala, and a runt plant that I almost gave up on. Gave some LST to the bush, let the tall girl fly on her own and picked the runt for my entry as I thought it would give me more time to grow with you folks growing period light plants. Boy was I wrong. The slow to start runt now has fully clouded trichs with a few ambers, the bush will be ready right behind it. All in exactly ninety days from seed drop. The plant I picked for my entry, though it has many more buds sites on it, I had hoped more would grow into larger buds due to its sister growing a giant coala to start. As its been growing, I thought it may have gotten sick as some of its leaves were starting to yellow off. Upon Saturday’s trim session the pistils had gone to full orange and upon close examination of the trichs , she’s telling me she’s near ready. So here’s our final grow pix. Nothing spectacular for the contest. As you can see I should have picked her sister to enter. The house now reeks of bud stink , I’m gonna wait for a few mor ambers before I get the ax though.
