I completely understand that one. What I thought I could get into for 5 maybe 6 hundred has doubled that and then some. But on the up-side, most of what I spent on can be used over several grows. A part of what I spent was trying to stay ahead of things and not really necessary. Some of it was buying things that later I decided I needed a better one of whatever, so bought different. Some of it is stuff that is not being used at all at the moment, but might be useful later when I decide to do do things a bit different.
Also, this being my first serious grow, I spent the first three or four weeks trying to use my Jedi Mind Powers to make them grow faster… didn’t work. And staring at them doesn’t make them grow faster either…just saying
anyhow, GoodLuck on your grow,
MC
I still think I’m losing this one
All that orange shit! I’ve researched and researched and tried so many things. Water level is good. Roots look freaking great. Temp & humidity are good (the other 2 plants are good). Still, the lower sets get oranger and are starting to curl up. I just keep giving her love and hoping it works out.
The other 2:
Are you adding cal/mag at all? Sorry if you covered that above
I do with their weekly changeover. Just tonight, I gave her a little mid-week booster (2ml/gal)
A potential clue - I’ve noticed the ph isn’t going up as much as it used to. I check every night at 7, and it was usually 6.8-7. Since this discoloration business started, I’ve noticed it’s been only 6.2ish. What does this mean? Anything?
@ktreez420 @Donaldj @kabongster are all hydro Growers so maybe they could throw there $.02
Your pH should be 5.8 @muffybunny it needs to stay steady very close to that number. You are locking out nutrients!
Close would be 5.6 to 6 max
Look at the left side of this table
At 6.2 youre locking out almost everything except nitrogen and magnesium
I’ll bring it down and see what happens @bob31
they will thrive! The damage on the leaves is most likely permanent but keeping the pH spot on and they will explode with new growth since they will be able to uptake all of their nutrients!
@bob31 should I pull the damaged leaves?
I wouldn’t pull them. They are still working, they just aren’t pretty. if the yellow off then take them, but otherwise I think it is bst to let the plant manage it’s leaves! @muffybunny
@muffybunny, is there a way to get a photo of the DWC plants roots…for a quick check on their health?
looking back through all your photos, I see you have a pH probe in your coco grow, do you have a pH meter?.. @bob31 gave perfect advice on the pH, 5.8 is the target for hydro
@kabongster I’ll get root pics this evening when I ph
thanks, the photos are an opportunity to check a view soil growers can’t get
nice roots your nutrient level looks a little higher than I would suggest for DWC myself only want net pot getting sprinkled not submerged 1"-1"1/2 from bottom of net pots much higher and you risk root issues hidden in the hydroton
I’m getting pretty discouraged. They started out textbook. Then I lost 1. I moved on and was still so hopeful for the remaining 3. Especially with 2 of them. They were thriving! The 3rd looked ok, but just wouldn’t get much taller. Now those 2 are sickly and the shorty is the only one looking good-ish. So much effort for what’s starting to get pretty dismal. I’m aware of mistakes and inconsistencies that are my own fault. There are times I think about scrapping it all and starting over, but I feel like I’m too far in and should just ride it out and get what I get. I’m confident my next grow will be better after learning from my mistakes.
The stubby one at the back left is the healthy-looking one
They will come good for sure
@muffybunny the soil plants look like a ph issue
What are you phong water and nutes to and what type of soil are you using with them ?
You need to get that fixed before to long imo
CB
@Countryboyjvd1971 - it’s Mill’s coco/cork mix. I keep the whole pot in a Rubbermaid tub for runoff. Here’s the weekly routine:
Friday: flush 2 gallons of ph’d, no nute water through, dumping the runoff. Then 1/2 gal of ph’d nute water.
Saturday: nothing. Just observe and let it rest.
Sunday & Monday: dump any previous runoff, then water with 1 qt ph’d no nute water.
Tuesday: dump runoff, then 1/2 gallon ph’d nute water
Wednesday: let it rest.
Thursday: dump runoff and water with 1 qt ph’d no nute water.
Friday: start the cycle over
I’m using advanced gh nutes in varying percentages depending on which week it’s been in. Right now it’s in the middle of week 6:
I put this together based on the chart from the gh website.
Note, this is just the coco and the amounts are for 1/2 gal of water.
