1st grow. Let the adventure begin!

Update.

So here the tent now. Looks pretty good imo.

I’ve been out of town for two weeks and My wife has been doing the watering.

When I get home on Tuesday, I’m going to Scrog the two big girls. I’m a little nervous about that. I’m way behind. They’re 8 weeks old but on the advice of @Hellraiser, I’m doing it. I think the increase in yield will be worth it. Two more weeks of Veg. Should I defoliate when I Scrog? @Bulldognuts

My little Sour Diesel Auto isn’t growing like I thought she would. She’s in FFOF getting PH’d city water at 6.4 with a 2cc of cal mag. I’ll be adding Silica Blast for her this week. She’ll be switching to 12/12 with her older sisters. image

@Hellraiser would be the best to answer about scrogging. I’ve never done it.

I defoliate all big fan leaves when putting them in the screen and clean up any small weak bottom branches, basically remove most anything on bottom 1/3 of the plant, stuff that is not going to get good light. I don’t like wasting time trimming small larfy popcorn buds and rather that energy be diverted to bigger buds higher up on the plant.

Looking good :+1:

So I’ve been busy. Totally neglecting my grow journal.

Here is what has happened since my last post.

I tested the run off for my two photos. Super acidic. 5.4 and 5.6.

I flushed with 7.0 and 7.3 water. I got the runoff to climb to 6.0.

I’m now feeding with 7.0 nutes

I’ve been feeding FF big bloom and grow big nutes at 2/3 strength with some stiff stalk and cal mag added

I’m still surprised how in frequently I have to water.

I accidentally super cropped one of my plants. I thought I’d lose a lot of tops but actually it worked out.

The other plant is LST’d, I think pretty nicely. I have I’ve opted to not scrog this time.

I’ve also transplanted from 3 gallon to 6 gallon pots. We’ll see happens over the next few days. I’m growing impatient and have to put these girls into flower. My tent is pretty full as you can see. You’ll also see some damaged leaves. I think that’s from the fan blowing too much. I need a smaller fan.

Here’s my question for this post. As of now, I’ve been feeding 2/3 strength.

When I switch to flower should I go all out, feed full strength of the FF scheduled trio PLUS open sesame and beastie bloom? With cal mag and the silica additive too? @Hellraiser @Myfriendis410 @Bulldognuts

FF grow schedules are based on the imperial scale (700) and not U.S. scale (500). If you try to match the TDS of the grow schedule with the wrong meter you will nuke your plants.

Use a published grow schedule, use the mix ratios for the ingredients as recommended then reduce the concentration with fresh water until you are feeding at around 1,000 ppm in. Keep a detailed record of your runoff–both PH and TDS.

Before you introduce flowering nutes, do a flush: FF recommends flushing at regular intervals.

Once you are in flower the detailed TDS runoff data will become more important. When you get to that point, tag me and I’ll explain.

It’s kind of tough throwing away trim knowing that a lot of it could be cloned and grown In a small pot then turned into a half ounce of weed. By my uninformed estimation I just threw away 3 ounces.

Maybe I’ll try cloning next year.

You should, you’ll like it quite a bit, nothing to loose in this scenario. Plants looking very nice Neo :+1:

Thanks for reading! Next time around I will or when I can convince my wife to let me take over another closet.

I said to her today, “don’t look at it as losing closet space but gaining a pound of weed. Every closet we have is a pound of weed. Think about that for a moment”

She did. I’ll have my flowering closet soon enough

  Great way to put it, good perspective too. Hey, at least she’s on board, that’s half the battle.
All the best w the flower closet, it’ll be fun getting there :+1:

$hits getting real. My plants are big and we’re ready to flower

I rearranged my tent to add a larger filter and the extra Blurple.

Goodbye 4in vivasun Amazon special, hello Phresh filter with S6 inline fan.

I’ve decided I need a room that I can customize. Tents are nice but it’s hard to arrange things the way I want.

I daisy chained the HLG off the blurple. Seems to work just fine.

Now I have lopsided light. Nothing is centered, lights are crooked my OCD is killing me.

I also have to give a shout out to this whole forum. Growing weed is my new hobby and I love it. This is a great outlet to tell people about your grow. If it weren’t for this outlet, I’m sure I’d have told a half a dozen people. The feed back is always encouraging. Not to mention the vast amount of experts on all subjects of weed Cultivation. The only thing better would be having Jorge Cervantes or @Hellraiser on speed dial.

I’ve turned down the HLG to about 50% and I’m turning the blurple on just to see what it does with the heat.

This new fan seems pretty awesome. I’m running it at 60%

LOL, I first met Jorge over 20 years ago in Amsterdam and have gotten shitfaced with him on a few occasions, really nice guy.

So here we are.

In past 24hrs, I have flushed one plant with sledgehammer. And left the other one as is. This morning I was fearful I was going to see a wilted plant as I have heard many horror stories about sledgehammer. I also switched the light cycle to flower.

I also did some final LSTing. My tent is pretty dang full.

The tiny SD auto isn’t so tiny anymore. I Need to find her a new home. I still have the CMH. I might see if I can find a home in the basement for her. If any of my friends new what I was doing I would just give her away.
