1st grow, "KISS" method down the drain

I got about ten minutes of “yay let’s load the dishwasher, that’ll be fun!” And then just happy to stare at the tv. Looking for a lot of amber in the end, but fun to try it as it develops.

Symptoms definitely returning on the three 5 gallon warriors. I decided to repot Elizabeth and Audre in brand new ffof. Watered lightly with rainwater with half dose Herculean Harvest, pH corrected to 6.8 with Olympus Up. (Big Bloom is gone. Switching to NftG for now.)

But I tried flushing Katniss again. Three more 2 gallon batches of hose water, the last two with added nutes. Runoff started at 5.6, ended at 6.4.

Means she’s soaked again, and I’ll have to worry about trying to dry her out aggressively, but we’ll see if wet soil is more of a risk than transplanting. Next time I’ll know which went better.

I also lopped off a branch that had broken. I was trying to save it with honey and tape, but it was dying. I figured the poor girl has enough to do, she didnt need to waste energy on a lost stem. Plenty of time to grow more branches.

Meanwhile, the Canvas Bags Ladies are rockin. They spent last night outside for the first time. I’m hoping to get them in the ground next week after our lawn gets graded and reseeded.

Also: I’m considering flowering the warriors inside. The upstairs closet will get hot in summer, so I’m considering a corner of my basement. Got the thermometer/hygrometer set up to see how consistent the conditions down there are.

@Lia been reading all about your grow. Very nice Lia. I’ve spent approx. $1,000 or little less, haven’t tallied up but will do soon. I spent more because I didn’t know what I was doing and also need to get better at budgeting. Good thing you’re off anxiety meds. I was on one drug for high anxiety and I went through hell getting off it, never again! Your plants look great. I like the misting machine you have. Want to see your set up in that big beautiful room! Later…

Yeah I find WW isn’t the greatest for creativity, I’m doing a lot of gifting of my stash.

Your basement looks dry so I’m sure temps will be ok humidity may be your problem in a basement you may need a dehumidifier
I need one in mine or humidity would be in the 80% range but I think you on track

My husband is interested in relief for chronic pain, and I would really love for my WW to just turn down the volume in my brain. I’m waiting for lots of amber before I harvest for real.

Hot and sunny, so I gave my four driest plants a little drink: half a gallon each, pHed to 6.8 with tiny doses of Herculean Harvest and Olympus Up. They’re all camping out tonight.

EDIT: 40% chance of thunderstorms tonight, so they came inside.

And Katniss dried out a lot in the sun today. She’ll sleep inside with a fan and a towel, continuing the aggressive soil-drying.

Keeping an eye on the damaged leaves. They look rough. Please let this be the turning point! I don’t have time to deal with more plant problems.

Leaves are yellowing, then getting brown and crispy from the edges and working it way in. Starts with lower leaves, gradually working it way up the plants.

I flushed all of the plants twice to runoff of 6.4 last week. Problem continued to get worse after 4 days, so two days ago I flushed one again. The others, I gave up on their soil and transplanted them into new soil.

They haven’t shown any improvement. It’s getting much worse very fast. Does it just take time for plants to show recovery after flushing? Do they continue to get worse for a few days even after the pH is fixed?

If they keep deteriorating at the rate they’ve been going the past few days, they’ll be dead in two weeks. Help!

@Lia looks like your having a potassium deficiency

I think so, too. But I already flushed and corrected the pH, and they’re getting nutrients, so how do I fix it?

Silicon/silica or potassium silicate ie rhino skin or silica blast should help correct that problem @Lia

Could you explain why potassium silicate will be absorbed by the plants when the potassium in the FFOF and other nutrients hasn’t?

Silica or silicon is a pure form of potassium and absorbs the quickest into plant cells, silicon or silica can be absorbed in a plants cells within 24 hours in soil, any other forms of potassium if not silicate or silicon could be weaker and not only weaker take much much longer to absorb into plant cells, typically in soil plants tend to use up the silica or silicon contained within the soil before they use up any other nutrient.

Silicon or silica will also open up the sugar transports throughout the plants and will also help reduce toxicities or deficiencies, as well as increases uptake in other micro or macro minerals or elements a plant may need @Lia

Wow. Thank you very much!

This has been a great read. But I’ve just spent a good hour reading through it (hung over), and you end on this cliffhanger.

Hope you turned it round fast. Good luck.

I’m a first time grower, just 12 days into seeding. That has never successfully grown any type of plant. So sadly I have no input.

I can’t wait to see your next installment.

Well, on today’s episode, I got potassium silicte additive recommended at the hydro store. They asked if I had pictures and agreed they look like potassium deficiency and also heat stress. They’ll survive the stress now that it’s normal weather again. And they said this would protect them from further stresses in general:

Watered a quart per plant with a half dose – 1/4t per gallon. Then also used it as a foliar spray.

Warriors look rough.

Elizabeth looks the worst.

Audre

Katniss

Jane and Wilbur in the canvas bags are in similar shape, but all the way across the yard. I’m too tired go all the way over there to take their pictures because it’s been a long day and I can’t remember the last day I had off work.

Meanwhile, 9 weeks and a few days since their flip to 12/12, the Scoobies are frosty and milky.

Willow:

All your BOM contenders are bigger and heavier, but I’m happy just to have gotten a plant to a harvestable state.

Should I defoliate or anything, or just let them keep on keeping on?

p.s. they smell awesome. Floral and herbal and fresh. Just a hint of skunk. :herb::leaves::seedling:

Your scoobies look near ready, when do you plan to harvest?

Personal preference only, but I like less amber on my WW smoke :herb::paw_prints:
