Week 1 Day 7
How does my growth look? Humidity was around 50% when I got home. Not to bad I guess. Ph read 6.1 from the meter will test will the solution later tonight before I go to bed. Tomorrow I was drain the reservoir and add nutes. That would be the start of week 2.
She is beautiful!! I think a great way to finish her off will be in a bubble bucket. Like in a month or two
@basementstealth I kind of want to do the whole grow in the Aerogarden unless it becomes to much of a pain. I have a RDWC system I already built but I was kinda intimidated by it with this being my first grow. I know I’m kinda cheating anyway by changing out the lights for flower. We will see. If I can yeild 2 zips out of this I’ll be happy. Most I’ve seen is a zip from people that have done a whole grow before on other forums. But the guy also didn’t have the setup and the lighting I have.
I was thinking about getting a one gallon bucket and a small pump attaching the 2 together with 1/2 inch pvc and making an RDWC out of the Aerogarden. To make it easier to drain, test and add fresh water and nutes.
Looks normal. Ph is probably a little high.
@dbrn32 thought the ideal range is 5.5 to 6.5 in hydro? @peachfuzz
Everyone I see seems to have better results about 5.8. Peachfuzz would be your guy though, if he says that’s good then go with it.
Theres no cheating in smoking or growing weed. Whatever works for you, farmer
That’s a good idea to add a reservoir to the aerogarden. Between that and the lights, you’ll be in business. But keep in mind the stalk of your plant may fill the pod basket and get stuck in your aerogarden. Just be careful if you have to cut it out of the AG
Week 2 Day 8. Will be draining the reservoir, giving fresh water and nutes today. Humidity seems kinda stable around 50% with temp around 74 degrees. 1st set of leaves is getting close to touching the humidity dome. Should I replace it with a bigger one. Cut a soda bottle? Also seems kinda short in growth? @dbrn32 @basementstealth @peachfuzz
Ive used AG in the past. Once with cannabis, although i didnt make it to harvest. And many times with other plants. I think once the little AG plastic dome doesnt fit then you can leave the seedling uncovered
@basementstealth did you not make it to harvest because you transplanted?
Um… lol
I hid the AG with the light ON in a box while someone visited my house. (An attempt at stealth) and the heat from the AG killed my young girl. Thats the last time i tried to grow in an AG.
Moral of the story? If you need to hide the AG in a box, turn off the light lmao
Ok. Well that sucks. I may order a bubble bucket to have on hand Incase it’s needed or I change my mind. How would it stand up in the bubble bucket. Would I have to wrap rock wool around the Aerogarden pod? Or do you thing I could just place in there and fill the basket with hydro stone @basementstealth
I suggested it was short because light intensity was a little too high already. If it no longer fits in dome you can remove it. If you transplant to a different unit you could just bury the ag pod in hydroton.
@dbrn32 who was it that grows in hydro without any medium? @peachfuzz??
Got me. I’m sure he knows how though
A good tip is to pre-cut the plastic from the AG. comes off like champ. Also noticed you are using bottled water and really watching humidity…during my first grow, I did not add any extra humidity (dry like crazy in New England winters)…but had no issue using tap water or humidity levels in the house dropping to 25%. I still ended up with about 6 ounces of real good stuff. I was very surprised, but happy. Am going to try and make a new improvements this time. Using deep water and bubbler.
Yes i do grow without any media… i just use neoprene collars to hold up plants…
Somebody already mentioned above… there will come a point in this grow when the rootball gets so big that you wont be able to get it out of the ag without either killing the plant or the lid to the ag…
How deep is the ag from top of lid to bottom of res… ?are you going to be able to maintain a 2 inch air gap from bottom of pot to water line throughout…?
Lots of things to think about…
When my plants are harvested , the trunks are bigger then the plant hole in the ag… ![]()

Ok so a medium would be hydro stone I’m guessing? From the bottom of lid to the bottom of the reservoir is about six inches. Pod maybe about 3 inches long. If I was unable to get the plant out I could probably just place the whole Aerogarden lid over the grow basket you think? @peachfuzz @basementstealth @Rob1955 @dbrn32
