It may struggle a little bit flowering that space well. Everything else looks pretty good.
@dbrn32
What do you mean? Should I stick to 2?
@Sasquatch Thanks! Hey pass that alongš donāt Bogart that joint my friend lol
It looked like you only had 1 light sorry. Two would be much better.
You want to use Ro water if your method is dwc⦠![]()
As close to 0 ppm is where you want to start , then you add everything your plant needs⦠![]()
I would run my tap water through a ro system if I were you⦠![]()

Check out the AquaticLifeās RO Buddie. I got it for $50 from Amazon. It takes my .350 well water down to .018.
@dbrn32
1 1200w is not enough for 4x4x6.
1200 Watts would be excessive. That light appears to have a power consumption of around 230 watts. Most of the time when fitting those style of lights to your space you want to be around 40-50 Watts power consumption per square foot.
Even by super efficient top notch commercial led fixtures, they use about 600 watts for a 4x4 and start around $800. Iām not saying your light wonāt grow weed. But youāll be lacking the intensity to flower that space well.
@dbrn32
Iām deleting the above post. You already answered this in another post ![]()
@dbrn32
So Whats the answer for someone on a serious budget? (And doesnāt have the ability to make my own).
You didnāt ask me but ⦠t12 florescent shop lights will grow marijuana. You just need to swap the bulbs from 5000k for veg to about 3000k for flower. One or two 4ā fixtures up top and then 1 down the back every foot or two as they grow. Rotate the plants every day and youāll be just fine. Not pretty or elite or terribly efficient but youāll have marijuana.
I imagine you fo the best with what you have. Your light will grow weed, it just wonāt produce enough light to maintain ideal flowering intensity.
I would always caution on spending money on temporary band aids. As stated, a t12 fixture will grow weed too, but not as good as a t5. So if either is something you already have, use it. But donāt waste a lot of money on temporary fixes.
@dbrn32
Thanks for that.
IF I had the cash to spend, what would you recommend? 4x4x6, 2 -3 plants
@PhantomFarmer, thank you!! Iāll take all the unsolicited advice I can getā
12 50 watt cobs or 4 120 watt quantum boards under most circumstances for 4x4. You can maybe save a little cash going with 6 100 watt cobs, but doesnāt quite have the coverage as the 12 cob option.
Iām going to add my two cents in here as well. @dbrn32 knows his stuff and I am taking his advice of a Quantum board light for my 2x4 tent.
Iām on my 4th grow and have band aided my way through with different lights. CFLās, LED bulbs with diffusers removed. Cheap LED UFO lights etc etc.
Now if I would have saved all that cash from purchasing the above crap I could afford my QB light. Now I have to wait.
Your other choice may be to purchase a smaller tent therefore requiring a less powerful light. Then when cash flow is a little better light the 4 x 4 and use the smaller tent for veg or clones or seedlings. Just a thought.
I second this fact @HJL @Fairieswear8oots
@HJL @Screwauger thanks!
I think I will have to just suck it up. No funds, right now. But itās on the listš
Had I found this forum and @dbrn32 before I started ordering china lights on amazon, i would have a nice QB build, I am sure of it.
I started with $400 in cheapo lights so you are not alone. You can grow weed like I could and do (and @HJL) just likely not to the quantity and quality the better better lights. So do like I did, harvest your plants in thirds (because light penetration leaves the lower half of āourā grows lacking/wanting). I took all the top colaās, then 2 wks later more exposed tops then finally the popcorn and lower branches.
Appreciate the kind words @Screwauger @HJL. Weāre all here for the same reason, and Iām just glad I can contribute. Iām still a proponent of doing the best we can with the resources we have available too.
