This is one cola on one plant out of 3. They were all bag seed and unknown strains. This plant actually has 7 colas (gotta love LST), but I figured one pic was enough. My question:
With only 12 days until theoretical harvest, will this put on more weight and density? The hairs are going orange, the trichs are still clear, and I am flushing with just pure pH’d water.

Can you get a picture in natural light?
What strain is it? How is it that it’s an unknown seed but you have a haven’t timeline?

Hard to tell in that spectrum can you get a picture in regular light

I was just about to tag you in brother

This being said you are further than 12 days out, you are more like 3-4 weeks away from harvest you should be using a jewelers loupe to watch trichomes as they change, you want Atleast 50% amber , 25% cloudy/milky, and 25% clear

I’ll get some pics with my flash camera when the lights go out tonight and post it.
@Hawkeye_diesel I don’t really have a solid timeline for harvest. I have been running on the theory that they are 8 week flower strains. Not that these plants are “theoretically” 48 days into flower. They are. It’s the problem growing from bag-seed, eh: not necessarily knowing what ya got? What kills me about these ladies though: I planted 5 seeds, got 4 females (lost one… So sad, amazing luck nonetheless), and the seeds had been in storage for over 5 years. These literally could have come from brick weed I got in the 90’s to tell you the truth. They all have subtle differences from each other, i.e. different strains. But, now I’m hoping they have heavy sativa genetics. Which is supported by Majiktoker’s thoughts and my growing suspicions. Would you agree that if these are 12 week flowering Sativas they (at week 6-7 in flower) look on track? Or, do they look like sad indicas with only 12 days left and a crop that is going to be popcorn nugs?
@Majiktoker I have been watching the trichs regularly with my 60-100x scope: all clear. It’s the rapidity of the pistel change that has me confused. I know most strains really bulk up in the last 2 weeks, but these particular ladies seemed behind the curve if they are 8 week flower strains: given the pistel change which is happening, yet limited swelling or trich change. I double checked all environmental conditions, and they are right where they should be. Your thoughts about them being “3-4 weeks” out, kind of confirms my rising suspicions: 12 week flower cycle and Sativa genes. I guess I should go ahead and do another feeding schedule then, eh? Unless you think, by the pic to come, that they are screwed up indicas… Plz no… Plz no…
I’ll get some better pics up tonight. I wish I wasn’t a n00b here. This limit on replies and posts is chafing my bahonkus.
I am exceptionally thankful for the site and your input though. I lost most of my grower network when I moved; and, any knowleagable extra eyes are a good thing.
P.S. If either of you have experience in a hydro grow of Gold Leaf, I have a topic started asking for tips, tricks, and advice.
THANKS MATES!
The only way that I know of to know when to harvest is goin by the tric’s and the pistoles. I believe you want the tric’s milky not clear and the pistols should be around 70% amber and curling back in on the buds. Anyone correct me if I’m wrong.
@TxGrowman, @Majiktoker, @Matthew420, @bob31. What do y’all think?

Look at the trichomes for sure. Clear is empty, milky and amber is the range. The more amber the more couch lock. I’m going to do 50%. It’s really a personal preference as to how much amber but clear is too soon.

Thank for the clarification.
@DissidentPriest I also grow mostly bag seed thay I have acquired over time. I think of them as Christmas presents because you never really know what your getting till it’s ready

If its a pure sativa it could flower from any where from 12-24 weeks, her hairs will darken harvest usually will come within 4 weeks of pistols Browning (usually) so likely she is a bit out within the 4 week range

There’s some better pics of the ladies. I know a little nute burn is showing on the tips. That is left over from the last feeding and didn’t progress. I think the 3rd pic is the best. That plant is the 7 cola plant, and because I did defoliation as well as some LST, the buds go ALL THE WAY DOWN to the stems. The #3 pic is actually of what would be the very bottom branch on that plant.
So there you go @Hawkeye_diesel, @Majiktoker, @Matthew420… Looking like 12+ week strains, eh? Plz say yes… plz say yes…

@DissidentPriest, yes id say about 4 more weeks and shell be ready, not to bad on nute burn really thats actually more of a sign she is trying to finish pushing what nutrients she has out of her leaves giving them to the buds for the rest of her time.
Nothing going on buddy happy growings

That plant is very very sativa you could have a long wait that looks to me like you’ve got more than a month to go…?
I highly recommend that you grow from seeds that you know their origin, you put too much work in for a crapshoot?! I grew something unknown that had almost no trichomes on it…!? I shook it for hash and almost nothing came off it, I threw it away, I threw over an ounce of it away

@Paranorman I am a bit of a seed hoarder. I have been collecting and storing seeds for decades. As I told @Hawkeye_diesel, these could literally be seeds from brick weed 20 years ago. I have my own seed bank project, you might say. :).
Up until recently I was part of a medical co-op, and we sourced our genetic thoroughly. We also had a professional, industrial level setup. Now I am on my own, and providing solely for my medical needs. These are my first solo grow, self built room ladies in like 15 years. I didn’t want to spend $ on genetics only to find out something was amiss in my environment. Since these have performed well, I already have 2 beautiful Gold Leaf ladies at their 10 day mark (today) going.
While I was really hoping to be cropping in March, the Buddhist in me says, " Hey buddy! Right when you crop, your Gold Leaf will be almost perfect to go into flower. Sounds like you hit your rotation cycle perfectly, albeit inadvertently." The Universe always has a way of providing, and balancing it seems.

Here are my little Gold Leafs photographed yesterday. The one on the right is technically a day younger (8 days) vs the one on the left.

@Paranorman. Running now under the knowledge of a heavy Sativa genetic, and 4-4+ weeks left, what do you think about stem splitting? Word is, you are one of the gurus in this procedure. I’ve never done it myself.
No, not me …I know nothing about that except what I’ve read on the forum, perhaps search the topic and/or locate Roberts article on it?
Your name came up in the dominant forum thread about it as a user of the technique. There was a host of others as well. I’ll try to find Robert’s article or tag another name in. Thanks!
