I recently began growing marijuana again as the laws have been changing in New York where I live and our government officials are finally beginning to “see the light”. I used to grow in the woods back in high school (I’m 33 now), but besides some very basic training and pruning techniques my knowledge of the art was very limited. Only in the past year have I begun growing indoors, and really only in the past few months have I been taking it more seriously as my actual business has taken some financial hits. In fact, now that that the cannabis industry is becoming more of a legitimate business I see both growing and cannibis research as a possible future career for myself (I got my BS in Biology and worked in an [endo]cannabinoid research lab for nearly four years before dropping out of grad school in 2016).
I learned very quickly when I began growing again that it is much more involved than I had remembered for many reasons, including that I’m likely taking a much more thorough and dedicated approach than I had when I was a slacker stoner teenager (I’m still one of those three things), and that growing indoors is a completely different animal. I’ve definitely learned a lot and am hoping to share some of the knowledge that I’ve gained so far with others, but I’m sure also that I’ll over time be able to save myself a lot of time and money by learning from more experienced growers in these forums.
