From Fox Farms when I asked about it for another member.
Thank you for contacting FoxFarm, I’m happy to help!
To perform a flush with the Sledgehammer product, you will want to prepare the mixture at a rate of 2 tsp per gallon of water. You will use the Sledgehammer standalone. Pour the solution over the soil and use about twice as much solution to flush as you would if you were normally watering or feeding. For example, if on a normal watering you use a half gallon, for a flush you would use a whole gallon. Once this is done, let the soil dry completely. After that you can pick up with the next feeding as scheduled.
It did but started wilting today so gave it a gallon of pH water (which I would use for the flush anyway).
A lot of people are saying that you need to flush the sledgehammer out with 5-6 gallons of pH after using it and waiting about 30 mins, and then give it a Nute feeding in the morning - I think I might try that because it could be that the sledgehammer is still in the soil and leeching the nutrients.
To answer your other questions,
What’s your run off ppm and run in Ppm?
I got the runoff down to about 400 before giving the Nute feeding and I aimed for 1000 with the feed because it was in week 6 at the time and I think I was just under in the 950 range.
What nutrient are you using and what week of flower
Using FF Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom and Cal/mag and its on day 40 of flowering.
@MrPeat thank you, that seems to be the way to go - I have a tub of water sitting out right now to evaporate the chlorine but will use those instructions for the flush tomorrow
I’m growing under LED’s so I was following other’s advice online about adding cal/mag - you’re saying I don’t need that at all? Can you have too much of it that would cause these issues?
I’m using tap water which comes out around 7.2 pH and super low Ppm like around 75 - leave it to sit for 24hrs at least before using to get the chlorine out.
Just when I thought I was getting the hang of this, this forum opens my eyes again haha.
Had no idea about overusing cal/mag and have been doing it every nutrient feeding - ill cut that out until I see rust spots but hopefully won’t need it again.
I’ll update you all after the flush and re-feed, thanks as usual!
You’ll be fine after you flush and feed no more damage will happen I feel confident.
Not a fan of sledgehammer now lol, has to dry, pff no thnx just flush with water and then feed.
I’ve never used it but I’ve learned from you it has to dry and then be flushed out wow what a process
Ditto to tagging me, I go on 4 days off starting Friday but I’m mostly on here.
At that point in flower you can expect to start losing fan leaves but you are also showing N and Mg deficiencies. Definitely need to know runoff ppm to determine what and when to supplement.
I’ve been using FF Trio minus the grow big but added the water soluble trio also and just use what I have with the schedule
Cal mag once a week during a plain water feeding …
I even noobed up my grow and used MG performance organics in ground soil mixed with vermiculite perlite and peat moss and put that in containers …
I read about a lot of these nutrient deficiencies and toxicity’s and i have the poster grow for all of it but knock on wood my plants seem to be growing buds …already harvested one
