I had some old seeds (3 seasons ago) that I found in a film canister in an old box of stuff my parents gave me when I moved out. Hadn’t opened the box in 25 years. My kid opened it to look thru my old yearbooks and saw the canister of seeds long jettisoned from my memory. All 90s stuff.

Anyway. I did everything I could to control pop them to no avail over like 12 months. Heat pads, score, h2o2, superthrive, water, soil only, paper towels, etc.

Ironically, I said f this, I got too many good seeds now. Dumped it all, probably 4 or 5 hundred seeds into a harvested old soil grow bag. Threw some fresh soil on it around June and tossed it to behind the wood pile to compost. I was surprised a month later I peeked at that pot and probably 150 of them came up.

Maybe try throwing a handful outside in a pot and forget about it. It cannot hurt. This late spring.

Very rarely do we get actual toxic/negative people on the fourm. And when we do our MODS excell in keeping the rules enforced, and the fourm/community a safe and friendly space for ALL growers to come share their knowledge and in my experience this community is EXTREMELY “new grower” friendly. Many people here take HOURS out of their day to help several people. Something you dont find in your day to day life out in the “real” world. I truely dont think @Lostgirl ment any harm IMO.

Hi and welcome
Like others have said its important to do some research on ur own to try and find out what kind of grow YOU want to try/experience because Not all ways of growing are going to work for each individual grower and the environment they can provide for said grow. The kind of outcome you looking from growing is important to factor in as well imo.

Utilizing the search bar will help alot! Scroll a bit and look for what interest you the most then seek some advice on how to go about that type of grow. And dont let this thread sway you to not ask questions. We are the most helpful community around growmie. But a good rule of thumb, we cant help thoes who dont wana help themselves.

Some basic equipment you will definitely need to help keep things in check.

  1. Ph and tds pen(if not growing organic)
  2. Ph up and down(if not growing organic)
  3. FANS. Air flow/exchange are EXTREMELY important.
  4. Automatic timers to switch lights on and off. Id say if you have a lot of free time and are around your grow constantly, you can skip on this if you want to do it manually everyday. Timers make it much easier tho.
  5. Nutrients. Using one line of nutes and not multiple will be very beneficial.

Id also suggest the KISS method. Keep it simple stupid.(not a jab at you at all. Just what it stands for :crazy_face:)

If i can help with anything tag me by typing the @ symbol then my name like so. @Highgrow. And if i dont know the answer ill know who to tag to help.
Currently growing in soil using jacks 321 with silica.

Some of us have done what you are asking. Merlin posted the link to a germing thread. I have step by step with pics all the way through from germ to 3 weeks. My input starts at thread position 40 in that link.

Good luck beating the bean!!

Thank you Bangin. I didn’t know that seedlings get their moisture from the air.
