What’s the best ways to clean 5 gallon fabric pots?

I’d like to get all the mineral and whatever buildup off my fabric pots. I’ve tried soaking them in water, but wanted to try them in the clothes washing machine. Anyone tried this before?

The buildup is salts. Vinegar does a great job of loosening minerals.

I recommend going to a laundromat if possible, wife will kill you for what it does to her machine! :joy::rofl:

I spray mine off real good with the hose and wash them on the sterilize setting…never had an issue…have washed dozens

I let 'em dry out then shake loose and reuse without washing. No problemo.

I agree, outside of looking dirty or being contaminated with bugs or disease some staining on the pots isn’t going to change anything about your grow. But any of the above will clean them.

Mine too after trying to wash them one time! I’ll take em to the car wash next time, or use new ones, I have 24 never opened and 20 5 gallons.

Since I do 90% of the laundry, I consider it my washer anyway! :wink:

I soak them outside in a kiddy pool for a day or two in water. Then I hang them on the line to dry. Then shake the heck out of them and brush them good inside and out. Then fill with soil… 5,7 and 10 gallon pots.

in the back of the truck at the carwash works as well as the laundromat and cheaper…

I loosen the stuck on roots, and just soak and repeatedly squeeze them till i dont see discolored water coming from them, then just hang dry them. They work great, no soap or anything.

I would be weary of using laundry detergents of bleach etc, unless you feel your washer does a good job removing that from the fabric aswell. I dont know about you, but my shirts always smell like gain or fabreeze after washing. :sign_of_the_horns::guitar::musical_notes:

Clean em? Just throw more dirt in em and grow some pot! It ain’t a fashion show lol :joy:
In all seriousness though, the staining isn’t an issue. If it really bugs you I think vivosun has some pretty good deals online for packs of them.
