This is about a half hour from home and yet it was an area that I had never explored. It had some pretty nice views of the Mississippi. Unfortunately we had to cut it short due bridge construction over the Mississippi. We did hit a section by car and then bike to Visit Vermillion Falls

A little drop of aloes or honey on the wound works wonder… Make sure the weight of the branch doesn’t pull that wound open and fix accordingly if needed. You should be good anyway… Just putting more luck on your side if you do this…

I applied the honey. It won’t be a big deal if it does not make it, I can use growth from a lower node to compensate. One reason that I like photo…very forgiving.

It’s the weekend.We took another cruise, this time we hit the Minneapolis trails. Minneapolis is often near the top when it comes to getting around by bicycle. It earns the moniker of City of Lakes.
I, being the cranky old guy that I am, did not take a single picture of a lake
I did take a picture of the faithful steed in front of a fountain in the rose gardens
We visited “the laughing waters” Minnehaha Falls

The Wandering Fool has returned from the Northwoods. I put another 40 miles of exploring on the e-bike, not exactly an Olympic record but most were over washboard roads. Seen, but unable to record were two deer, seven grouse, multiple chipmunks and two moose!
We took our time on the return trip by visiting a couple of the numerous waterfalls along Highway 61, stopping overnight on the NorthShore of Lake Superior at Gooseberry Falls State Park.

Look at how narrow the distance is between sides of the channel. There are life-saving buoys downstream because some kid with more testosterone than brains attempted to jump that chasm…he was unsuccessful! It took days before the body resurfaced.
Cross River Falls
The geology of this area is fascinating. 1.1 billion years ago, the North American attempted to split. The rift in the earth allowed volcanoes and lava to surge out and created a mountain range and the rift filled with soft rock. Subsequent ice ages bull–dozed the mountain range and wore away the soft rock in the and deepened the rift, compressing the underlying volcanic rock. When the glaciers receded, they filled the rift with water, the compressed volcanic rebounded and the foundation of the Great Lakes was created.

I love Gooseberry Falls. My favorite state park in Mn is Tettegouche. That giant waterfall is something else to see. Last time I was there we went swimming below it for an hour or so. Glad you had a fun and safe trip man. I’m super jealous you got to see a moose! It’s been over a decade since my last moose sighting up north.

It was a cow and calf crossing the Sawbill Trail. The calf stopped and stared at me for about 15 seconds, as I am regretting having my camera and telephoto in the back seat.
