Total newb making soil for in ground outdoor plants

So I made soil sifter and it works great. So far I’ve got the first 100 gal sifted and mixed with 1/3 peat. My fertilizer should be in this week so I can start on that. Man I love playing in the soil. I haven’t been this excited in years.

@HippieRunner1 so the mixture you gave me is per 3 cubic feet of soil?

@Mosca @HippieRunner1 So this is my story and bear with me I’m an illiterate hillbilly from the Ozarks. So when I was in my early twenties I grew some bag seeds that produced well and me and my friends were all high for about a year. After that I had my first child and money was tight so I thought maybe I could sell some other stuff to and make some extra cash well that was a bad idea. About three years later I’ve got a terrible meth problem, my wife hates me and I have a whole new set of so called friends. Life sucked. Well then I get busted with a bunch of meth and a gun which is bad, so I go to prison for about 2 years when I get out I’m alone no friends no money no family no confidence just broken. So I decided to abide the law and go somewhere. I stopped smoking weed one I couldn’t afford it and I needed to be on my a game at my new job as I was trying to learn a new trade Boat Mechanic which at first I felt like an idiot but I came around. So I worked I worked a lot for the next 10 years got my wife and family back bought and paid for my own home basically I worked 7 days a week. Fast forward this January I was working on my house after work one day got done and I sat down in my recliner feeling my age. I got on Facebook and seen Missouri had legalized weed and you could cultivate so I looked into it and sure enough true story. I thought maybe I can grow again and applied for the permit and I got it. So I started working on my garden .My wife is a closet smoker so she is kinda excited and couldn’t believe what I was doing totally out of left field she said. I feel like I’ve found a peace of myself that was lost a long time ago. This has me so excited and I haven’t smoked in 10 years so the first time I do it will be mine with my soil on my property and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. It’s nice to pursue something you love it can reignite the fire of your inner self

That is correct. 3 cubic foot bag. And all those measurements can change to your preference.

I dig that back story man. Things surely do happen for a reason. Times have definitely changed for the better. I’m glad you have found a location/home that you can express yourself. Congratulations! If I can help out in your journey at all please let me know

It has been a long windy road for myself also man. Lost jobs, torn apart family members and about 10+ years of being an extreme alcoholic. But, in the long run I’m finely learning who I truly am. Learning each and every day.

@HippieRunner1 I hope all is well with your garden so far and your not too stressed out yet. Mine is coming along ok but the humic acid I bought was the humic acid raw that is water soluble. It mixes like 1/4 tsp per gallon. I’ve been mixing all my fertilizers and soil in my wheelbarrow then using the water mix to wet it down. Is this correct and should I use this a couple times when I water also? Thank you for all your help

I feel like what you are doing is fine. The humic acid breaks down other nutrients and allows them to be more obtainable to the plants. So be carful with Jose much you use. Alittle can go along ways. If mixing it in with your soil you should be good for a while without any additional.

I will add alittle to my teas randomly during veg and early flower.

Well I’ve been busy I decided to dig a trench that’s about 3 ft wide by 2ft deep then I dug a 6 in trench in the trench and filled with gravel I think it will work great with my homemade soil. With the amount of soil I’ve made it may end up being about a 1ft mound of soil on top of the ground like a raised bed.

I have figured out how to collect worms though just lay a tarp down before it rains then wait a couple days and they seem to come to the surface under the tarp.

Hey , we all made mistakes Glad you’re back on track and I’m looking forward to seeing some Cannabis Growing, I start my plant’s in cups and gallon containers until they get a good root system , I use BlackGold potting soil worm castings included in the mix , then I dig a hole and go straight into the ground, I have a long growing season here in South Carolina and it gets very Hot and Dry Kills me toteing water and nutrients. But nothing beats Fresh Buds 100 % organic

I’m 100 percent organic also but I’m in Missouri so I have it a little easier as far as the law goes but the season is shorter.

So I sourced some rabbit manure I put one wheelbarrow full in on top of the soil I already made I think it’s ready hopefully it’s not too hot. Tomorrow I’ll post pictures of what I’ve got done.
