I have a quick question, @merlin44 What do you mean by a 6/2 lighting schedule? Is the 18/6 schedule too harsh for seedlings? Thanks in advance.

The 6/2 lighting schedule is simply six hours of light and 2 hours of dark. This gives the plants the same Daily Light Integral (DLI) as 18/6 but makes heat management easier for some folks. Using this schedule still gives the plants 18 hours of light and 6 hours of dark each day, it is just in three doses.

I use the 6/2 schedule during the entire vegetative growth period.

@merlin44 Ahhh. I’ve been thinking that the DLI was continuous as with the sun and not accumulative. That’s good information. I too have a problem with temp control at times. This brings another question to mind - can, say like, a 4/4 light schedule work in flower stage?

The short answer is NO. Photo period plants need 12 continuous hours of darkness to go into and stay in the flower stage. It has to do with phytochromes and how light effects them and the production of flowering hormones within the plant. Good question @d-Jawz.

When you guys put the seeds into dirt, how wet do you get the soil before putting the dome on top of the cups or before you put them into a plastic seed chamber? Ive had a hell of a time trying to get seeds to sprout. Im 0 for 20 seeds of all types (banana kush, super skunk, gelato, goldleaf) Im think im over watering…

I just got same seed germination kit/ dome Bonjoyle has with a T5 light. And i got 2 superskunks to grow tails. (The first 2 out of many). I put them into soil and wet the soil with a sprayer until a little bit of water came out of the bottom of ghe solo cup. My humidity is at 86% and temp is at 78.5 degrees.

I have a heat mat but temps were at 81.5 and rising with it on, i unpluged it and kt went down to 78.5.

moist but not dripping at all. Keep us posted as I think you will break this non germing rut ur in using this method.

If you scroll back up to the beginning of my post, you will see the pic of the starter cup and pretty moist soil. There is no bean in it yet. I prep the soil when I drop the bean in the bowl of water. The soil is moist enough and with the humidity, I do not water the bean after I plant while she is in the dome.

I have been watering twice a day which may have caused the problem. Ususally i would use saran wrap over the solo cups with about 5 holes poked into the top with a pencile… hopefully this new setup will make the difference. I wont water the cups anymore, just spray the inside of the dome.

That is the ticket. :point_up_2:

I don’t really do this for cannabis, although I don’t see why you couldn’t, so most probably won’t find it interesting, but for the gardener-hearted out there, it may be of some use.
I do this all the time for veggies, small lettuce seeds like these, and even cucs and peas, just less per container. Instead of a paper towel, I use a (4cup) coffee filter. The roots don’t grow into them like they do with paper towels. Just a 2 oz condiment cup with a cover, fold up a filter and stuff it in the bottom, fill with water and just dump out the excess, nothing too fancy, snap on the top and keep it warm. Been working like a charm for a few years now.

Oh, these actually got a little out of hand. I don’t usually let them go this long

So yesterday I noticed fuzzy mold on the little 2 leaves on the superskunk that sprouted so i put some hydrogen peroxide on her and flushed her with water and took her out of the dome. I kept her wet in my clone tent which has a led light with 120ppdf but today she is shrivled and i think she is dead/died. After 5 days she didn’t get any bigger and no new leaves which seems very odd to me. The 2 little leaves never got bigger. The cotyledons were never green, just tan. The two first leaves were very green but never got bigger. I really thought I’d be able to get 1 to grow, but now i just have 2 more super skunks in the ground but they have not broke the surface. Not sure if they will. Its 76 to 78 degrees with 80 to 92% humidity. In a grow sprout dome with a t5 fluorescent light on the top… idk what im doing wrong.

I never watered her, i just sprayed the inside of the dome to keep the humidity high. What am I doing wrong…?

This is like 18 beans which seem to have died on me. I had high hopes for the new sprout dome and spraying the inside of the dome.

So what soil are u using for this. This may be an issue. Is there a fan in the room.mobing air around constantly as stale air sitting in 1 spot or warm air is not a good thing in moist conditions. Let’s start over with a new soil maybe and when u ustar put seeds in a container of distilled or ro water with 3 to 5 drops of hydrogen peroxide leave it sit for up to 24 hrs or if u see a shoot coming out sooner u can transfer them but 24 hrs in peroxide water then dump that water on a napkin and cover it up have it wet but not dripping soaked. Cover with a ziplock baggie and leave in a warmer spot for up to 24 hrs or unless it sprouts a nice tail sooner. When u transplant make sure u have clean hands not dirty from messing with any other pla ts or animals in the area and go to town fill a pot and seed in root down be careful not to break it. Now me here I fill a 7 gallon pot with coco and soak it with full strength jacks nutrients and tribus I mean I soak the pot like I flushed it then I let drip til not dripping and plant seed and leave it be for a couple.fre days shouldn’t have to water for 2 3 or 4 days if this don’t get u a plant going idk what else to say this is easiest I’ve found and have never killed a baby trying it out this way. Good luck hope u get this going as seeds r pretty expensive now a days. Lol.

Question on dimmer knob. Does your light come on at the first click and does your light increase from the 9th to the 10th click?

Mine comes on at the 2nd click and no increase from 9 to 10.
