Green onions or garlic yes. Marigolds would depend on pot size, but can easily be separately parted, and used as trap plants surrounding the cannabis plants
Im wondering if you have any idea as to how this affects the ph of your soil?
Never checked directly what topping did to pH. I never ran into ph issues, and I tipped it every time it disappeared.
I appreciate everyone’s feedback and tips for an outdoor grow.
I’ve taken everyone’s advice and purchased shade cloth, insecticides, etc.
As i write this i have a few autos (Purple Kush, Northern Lights) that were transplanted into their bags within the last few days in my tent. Waiting for their chance to go outside.
Ive carved out a little spot on the backside of my property where these ladies will do their thing.
A few more questions as i move forward:
At what stage would i want to start hardening off? These ladies broke soil 2/24 and 2/25 so they’re still quite young.
Our temps outside are growing more consistent: Daytime temps in the upper 60s to low 70s, Nighttime temps are still dipping into the low 40s - im guessing once we see consistent nighttime temps in the mid 60s to lower 70s, they’d be ready to be outside full time, is this correct?
Watering. This is where I’m really stuck. I’ve only ever used a 3gallon bag - these ladies will be in 10gallon bags. Can anyone give me some pointers as to how much to water? Some watering habits to get into? I know these bags are going to need considerably more water than a 3 gallon would need.
Again, i appreciate everyone’s feedback. I’m growing more and more confident in an outdoor grow. I have a good feeling about this.
Temps is why I am not starting seeds til April and outdoors around May 1. I will move seedlings outdoors during day in April weather permitting. They get use to being outside and you will actually see a happier plant under real sun.
Watering will depend on your medium but will water larger pot same as smaller, it will take more water. Where I am in central ca it gets hot so have to water accordingly.
Last summer I had some plants on wick pots and ran irrigation to the pot. That way the pot always has water and the plant is always watered to perfection.
This year I will be in coco for 3 plants and a nutritioned soil in the other 3. I will need to add nutrients to the coco so will need to hand water them or deliver nutrition via venturi from a 30 gallon premix or I have a fert auto mixer I may use that goes inline with irrigation. The nutrients I use are mostly ph balanced so I dont worry about it, but I am just your average grower.
