I get involved with answering and forget i have to start over with all of the lost gear maybe a different approach next time
Your knowledge and experience still with you. Many benefit from sharing.
I lost my Zen so if i can keep my mind on Pharming and all the glorious results it will be going again. The supply wagon has visited so im not with out, spectacular BrotherLow
Beards coming in nicely Brother
If a traumatic experience doesnāt kill a passion, you know itās supposed to be. So many times Ive lost everything, and hobbies went along with it. To stick to something after loss and still have drive and desire, thatās amazing. Truly shows the love.
Beard is growing in thick!
Dabpress.
You would think bigger is better⦠BUT⦠id much rather press 8gs or less at once and take the time with smaller batches. Ive had both hydraulic motor driven and manual. I prefer the manual. 4 ton is fine for what we do. I can press over 15gs of dab an hour if i wanted. Bigger doesnt necessarily mean better. I just feel like with a smaller press (5x7 plates) youll be happier with the final product and you wont be blowing your wallet out. What counts when it comes to quality and quantity of concentrate is genetics of your flower. Humidity and age of bud also comes into play. I usually start pressing 2 weeks post dry. The fresher the better.
My 4t was phenomenal and will be replaced with the same.
At the moment i just have a nugsmashermini and i just cant even fit an 8th under there. I need something that i can press more at once. At least a qt. Thats why im aiming for the 6 ton area. The mini just doesnt seem to do it for me. Idk if it works this way but couldnt i only put down 4tons of pressure on a 6ton or is it strictly restricted to only putting out 6t?
If it helps folks press shoppingā¦this was a reference of some models from last March (2024), but ymmv:

Hey everyone, what size micron do you think is best? And when do you press, after dry or fresh?
Ayyye bumping the topic!!
Flower you wanna press as soon as itās dry enough to go into cure. If you press fresh itāll be all water. I like 90 micron for flower.
I use coffee filters when i press. After you think your bud is dry post harvest, sweat it in a paper sack for 24 hours. Too much moisture will make your dab runny and hard to collect. I test pressed some today i thought was dry enough and ended up wasting a lil bit. Kick @$$ buzz from what i was able to collect tho
Hey you made it and i think that makes it more potent with the love you put into it than any mass produced dispensary dabs imo personally. Idk why i just feel like it hits with a little bit more vavoomph ya know?
And i only have a nugsmasher mini atm so the spouse and i are conveyor belt pressing 3 plants. Fun times. Lmao.
Thanks @Low ! Thats what i thought but when i look stuff up like this it always pulls different answers from different threads via different sites.
The fresher the better! Only way to top the flower rosin before cure is to deep freeze freshly cut flower and do a bubble hash run, process that and press the hash at low temps. Talking that blonde bubble.. This is what they call ālive rosinā Iāve never done this myself because of the work involved but if you have the means to do so this is the way for quality. And low micron bags like 20-30 or whatever, the lower the better, low temps, long presses.
Definitely keep that in mind for when i can upgrade and expand. Thanks low!
How much flower does it typically take to make a single cart? i want to make my own!!
A gram of concentrate is usually what is used @Strungthru depending on what your trichome output is depends on the amount of flower that has to be used
