My plants are getting tall enough to move outdoors, but I can’t until July 1st. I’m planning on growing them on my deck because we have lots of deer in my neighborhood. There are trees all around the edges of my property and my deck gets about 6 hours of direct sun per day. I’m thinking about using LST to maximize the power of sunlight on my plants to produce nice buds. I would be grateful for any advise. Do you think that will help?

Are they autos or photos? I’m not doing any lst on these and when I transplanted them into there 10g forever homes they all did it on there own. Stretching way out so there was really no need to for mine. Not to mention I’m a new grower and kinda freaked out about doing anything on my first grow. I just wanna see what there gonna do on there own ya know.

They’re photos. How many hours of direct sunlight do yours get? That’s what I’m concerned about.

Most days 8 to 10. The sun moves around the shade trees in my backyard And the light is constantly moving as I’m sure it is in your yard too. Yours will do perfect on your back deck!

You can absolutely LST them to get better light to your lower bud sites. A good side view picture of the entire plant(s) would help show us how tall they are now. When I LST, i gently bend the main stem just below where I think I’d like then tie it off to the pot with a loose loop of thick string. The loop is left loose for the stalk to have room as it gets thicker. I then do the same thing with each lower branch in an attempt to make them all a similar height. A tomato cage could also be used to tuck branches under or over as they grow. That will mostly help spread them apart, but could also be used as tie off points for the branches. I would stop LST as each branch gets woody and hard to avoid breakage. As the buds develop and gain weight you may also need a way to support the branches so they don’t get too heavy and fall over or break then.

The tallest plant is about 13" tall now. They sprouted on 5/29 so almost a month. The stems look sturdy so it may be too late to bend. Thanks for the advice.

Not too late at all! Actually bending gently about mid way up will expose your lower branches to better sunlight and allow them to grow upwards much better. When I say gently, I would recommend that you hold the stem similar to gripping a pencil and massage it to bend how you want over a few inches of the main stem so that you don’t create a hard angle and more of an arch. I’ll see if I can find a video and tag you in it.

[LST (Low Stress Training) and Supercropping Marijuana - Improving yields - YouTube](https://youtu.be/WIw3TBGPuRQ) I like the way he incorporates super cropping in this, but you font have to twist the stem as he is. Simply manipulating it little by little is a true LST.

Already got my plastic covered wire, so I’m good to go on 7/1. 😁

Ahh holdup. Depending on your location we are already pre flowering. I wouldn’t do anything especially lst on a plant 13 inches tall now. Doing lst only slows it down and I guess that’s cool if we are growing bonzi plants.

Are we growing Bonzi plants?

I’m in Virginia. I’m thinking it’s going to be more than a month before the daylight changes enough to start the flowing process. Trying to maximize the amount of direct sunlight my plants get. I was probably going to try one to see how it works.

The solstice was June 20th causing the days to get shorter. This has triggered flowering now. The further north the earlier it starts.

Plants in Mississippi planted in July never get but about a foot high as they start flowering almost immediately.

My plants are a month old. We’ll see what happens, I guess. I’ve been taking them outside during the day, inside at night and trying to simulate the amount of sunlight with the use of grow lights. Today is independence day for growers in VA. Happy growing!
