Summer grow of 2019

I actually put a little of both brands in a compost tea I’m making right now lol

I used the Alaskan fish emulsion today as a spray, 1/2 tsp to 16oz of water in a spray bottle…only really ended up using about half of the mixture, sprayed them down after they were out of direct sunlight. Sure did make them stink like fish!

Yeah it does stink, but the plants seem to love it!

I’m gonna give them a mist every other day for the next few days and see what happens!

Sounds like a plan. Just be careful with them being outdoors, the smell can attract animals.

Certainly notice an uptick in fly traffic after I sprayed them yesterday…however they are on my deck and the deck is gated, as we have a pool, so they are generally out of reach of the critters…

No update yet but this is the result of reveg from one of my girls. She was topped once, so she had 2 main tops. But 1 of the two decided it wanted 3 tops instead of 1!
This pic is 8 days old now. Hopefully going to go see them again in the next couple days.

After 10 days, I finally got a chance to see all my girls again. And some of them are starting to take off. I have yet to see a lot of stretch yet but I noticed a couple small preflowers on a couple of the girls.
I gave all of them each 2tbs of wormcastings and azomite and topped that off with an aerated compost tea.

It’s harder to notice the difference in growth on these first two, but they are growing haha

There’s a 5 gallon bucket, with the smallest girls, in this one for reference.

And these are the girls that were in the 20 oz Styrofoam cups. Put two each in a 5 gal bucket and put them outside with the rest.

These got a heavy rain the day I put them outside. Some of them are leaning, but they’re happy.

They’ve stretched my friend looking good

80 degrees and 60-70% humidity for the last 5 days and for the next 10 days as well!
I couldn’t ask for better growing weather in July!

And flower has begun!
Went out to see the girls yesterday. Most of them appear to be pretty much done with stretch and have started flowering. I have 8 girls in a small field, and 4 in a larger field, which appear to be a few days ahead of the girls in the small field. A few of the girls in the large field seem to have gone through a lot of leaf matter during stretch(they get alot more sunlight than the smaller field and seem to be consuming more) but they were all given my custom organic fertilizer. I mixed a little of the veg and flower blend together so they still have a little N.
As of right now, I’m deeming the 28th of July as the first day of flower since there was a little bud development when I checked on them yesterday.

Superb thread.

Your enthusiasm shines through and is truly inspiring.

What was the daylight and sunset times when you first noticed flowering?

Did all of your plants flower at the same time?

Well done on your grow so far and the very best of luck.

@jackowhee Thank you so much! I’ve tried my hardest with these girls this year and, although I’ve had a lot of setbacks, I couldn’t be happier with them. I’m really excited about the future and being able to invest even more in this endeavor.
Well, what I’ve noticed this year is that outdoor Cannabis doesn’t exactly require a full 12 hours of darkness to induce the flowering hormone. My plants started stretching for flower this year when the days were about 14hrs 30 min long.
In my area I’m calling July 28th as the beggining of flower. Most of them have already shown preflowers, but I do have a Sativa dominant plant that wasn’t as far along in flower as the others.

Yes, I noticed the same thing and in my last indoor grow I changed the lights gradually each week at the end of the veg stage and at the end of the flowering to harvest. Ending up using 8 on 16 off. This gentle approach worked well with the added benefit of being able to study the plants in all their stages.

I predict my current open to sunlight grow will start to preflower around 15th August when I’ll get 15 hours of daylight and the first tiny buds will show around the 28 August when the daylight hours get down to 14. Shortly after, probably the end of the first week of September, I’ll be able to identify the males and carryout culling.

If you have time, check out my thread.

Went to see the girls again today. We’re at about 2 full weeks of flower now.
A few of the girls are really going through some leaf matter. I fed them about a weeks ago but they are still losing a bunch of lower leaves.
I think I’m having an issue with fertilizer washing away instead of into the soil. Probably shouldn’t have planted them on these mounds lol
They look good other than that. All the flowers are progressing nicely.

The girls in the buckets.
Still unsure of their sex.

I’m almost certain the 2 biggest of these 4 will be males haha

And some bud development.

The next 2 pics are the Sativa dom girl. Her flowers aren’tquite as developed.

Maybe a top dressing of compost or wood ash, but you and your plants doing so well, maybe it’s not worth the risk of fecking up a great grow.

I’m entering the 6th week of flower and the 3rd month of Grower’s Jitters with regards to my indoor grow.

The outdoor plants’ preflower is well underway and is way ahead of my predicted flowering schedule.

Happy days

So I’ve definitely made a lot of mistakes this year. This year I tried going all organic by mixing a collection of organic fertilizers to make my own “supersoil” fertilizer but I wasnt sure how much or how often to feed and now I’m really paying for it.
It had only been 10 days since I saw the girls last and one of them (which was green and lush a week ago) was a completely dried husk. And the one next to it looks like she’s dying as well. I’m not convinced that a lack of fertilizer is killing these. Seeing as how the first to go (Ahsoka) died so quickly. I’m thinking maybe there’s a fungus or something in the soil they don’t like.
As for the others in the large field, a lack of fertilizer is definitely the case. They all have lost quite a bit of leaf material and the largest was displaying a reddish-purple stem, pointing to a major Phosphorus deficiency.
I have, since then, amended them with as much fertilizer as I could without burning them and we got probably over a half inch of rain yesterday, so I’m praying they are all feeling happy, healthy, and on the road to recovery. Hopefully my efforts this year will not be for naught.
I didn’t get any pics of them cuz they all looked so sad and I just couldn’t do it…

Shite things happen, usually at the most unexpected times.

I’m gutted for you.

Best of luck with your remaining plants.

@Growyourown sorry to hear buddy…how far out were they from finishing?
