Splitting the stem before harvest

Most of my grow threads i have split the stem, it’s an easy enough process and I have done it as a step by step guide on my 2nd, 3rd and 4th grow and then if you have any questions I’d be pleased to help

@TDubWilly @Drinkslinger I know this is an old thread but I have a question about the drilling over splitting… Which diameter drill bit should I use? I understand it will depend on the size of my stem but generally speaking how large a hole should it be or better yet how much stem should I leave on either side of the drilled hole? Thanks in Advance for your Help.

I used the largest one i thought could be drilled and still hold up the plants weight.

Normally my stems could take up to a half inch in diameter and still act like nothing has been done to them, of course, I’ve had stems that didn’t even reach that size before also

I think this hole is only 5/16 but this Lil gal is only in a half gallon pot and I don’t even know if the stem is 1/2" in diameter, but you can use this Pic as a comparison to how big i used to drill my holes compared to stem size.

I quit doing it because it didn’t seem to produce the results that some people talked about, whether drilling or splitting.
