Something Big Is Coming 👀 (ILGM x Grounded Genetics)

We’re excited to officially share that we’ve been working on something special with Grounded Genetics — and we want the ILGM community involved from day one.

For anyone unfamiliar with them, Grounded Genetics has built a strong reputation in the modern cannabis breeding scene for terpene-focused genetics, unique flavor profiles, resin production, and carefully selected modern hybrid lines. Originally rooted in the UK and now operating between Europe and Spain, they’ve become well known for strains like Z Road, Frootz, Designer Sherb, Blue Fizz, and several award-winning collaborations and hash-focused projects. (Grounded Genetics)

We’re currently putting together a long-form interview / podcast-style conversation with Grounded Genetics focused on breeding, genetics, cultivation philosophy, pheno hunting, grow culture, selection processes, controversial opinions, and everything in between.

Real conversations. Real growers. Real opinions.

And instead of just asking the same recycled questions everyone always asks… we want the community to help shape the discussion.

I would like to know their opinion on the amount and level of equipment recommended. I am a less is more guy.

And to add what and how are gentics being played with to get a more consistent grow plant wise seems the swing between plants is getting less reliable.

I TOTALLY agree.

How do you feel about F1, F2, F3 or S1 etc - I’ve never been involved on the breeding end, and am now experimenting myself. I do like the element of surprise now that I’ve got my own F1s going.

Not sure what direction to move in - they’re drying as we speak, so that’ll determine the course, I guess. And if I randomly hit gold I suppose selfing is the way to go. But seeing as I have no set expectations, I don’t mind introducing or exploring some genetic variety.

However, if a certain strain is known for certain qualities the consistency becomes tantamount.

Really curious how everyone feels about that. But I do understand that if you’re purchasing specific genetics for specific desired qualities, variability is trumped by consistency in a major way.

I was working some line breeding trying to stack alleles off the F2s to figuring out homogeneous traits better. Got russet mites before making it to the S1 family runs to do so. Stabilizing traits becomes paramount going into the F3.

I don’t think most breeders are putting in the work. I think theyre selfing something and move on. Yeah the pheno is there somewhere for you to find a clone to keep around.

Personally, I believe that’s beating a dead horse. Just my opinion.

That’s a solid question, and again (personal opinion) I would rather see stacked terpes with lower thc.
Unfortunately it’s hard to find. I’m not a breeder, but it’s sad that the emphasis is now on how little smoke gets you the highest.
I love the taste of certain strains, getting wasted is easy (I’m also really a lightweight).
I love sipping whiskey, but don’t love sipping everclear.
I love a great bottle of wine, I’d hate it if 3 sips put me into orbit.
Definitely gonna check them out.
Definitely on board to watch/listen.
