Do you add anything to the soil before tilling?
No i just ground up all the foliage thats on the ground, the leaves will fall and ill till it again before snow. About 10inchs of soil beautiful dirt.
Okay so on my door project he asked me to stain them like before, i thought the burning and polyurethane coating was much more attractive, he and his wife agreed. YESSSS
Love wood burning! When I refinished the dining room table that low and I built I chose to burn it. It was a fun process 
I have made corner 3 tier shelbe before with the burning, wood is beautiful i like to see the beauty.
Have you tried Fractal burning of the wood?

I tried it, pretty cool to learn how to make it using a neon transformer but then I started growing and no time for it anymore
