Wowzers! :star_struck:

What’s your secret? Any tips?

I’ve been making my way through this thread. I want to grow 3-4 solos (autos, quick strains) this summer, first time, lol. So far, I’m thinking that I’ll mostly do what I’ve been doing in my 1-gallon grows, lol. (soil and grow dots, has worked well for me)

Well if you can tell by the pic, the plants on tbe right are in normal solo cups. The ones on the left are in 36oz. Im finding that they are better. A little more wiggle room. I also veg them a bit longer.

I’ve been looking for other containers bigger than the 18oz solos, but I haven’t come across 36oz; I’ll look specifically for those.
Really, my goal is to grow small plants (but of course, lol) under one light, hopefully lol, to minimize summer heat.

Do you poke any holes into the sides of the cups, any size,?

I would poke holes. Easier to ward off root problems…

I get them from amazon. They are for beer pong lol. I have a hole on the bottom of the potted cup. Then i have another 36 oz cup under as a small reservoir with a few clay pellets(3 or 4) and then about 3/4 of an inch up i have a drainage hole in case i over water.

I have 4 tents in my small bedroom lol. I can fit 50 of the 36oz cups in my flowering tent. 25 each in my other 3 tents which 2 are for seddlings/prop/early veg, and the other is for prime veg.

Whats a solo cup - a pint? Probably, made for a beer. Here’s 32oz a liter or a quart forget which but little difference

I see, there seemed to be something in the bottom of those, since the top ones are sticking up a bit.

I just had a moment to poke around Amazon, and I found 32oz cups (7" high), haven’t found 36oz yet. But even 32oz would have more room than 18oz. :

Not on my “regular” Solo cup (8oz), but I would on the bigger ones.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking.

So, what is the best way in which to do said poking?
Lots of small holes done with a thumbtack or something?
I’ll be in soil, I don’t want too much medium running out. :upside_down_face:

I would use a drill with the smallest bit you have.

I bought those as well lmao. I like to be able to see the root formation early. But the problem is that they are clear so have to be covered, they dont sit well in the solo cups so i scraped that idea and went with the larger solos

They are large and sturdy! No complaints so far.
