Small scale R&D Pheno Hunt & Training run 4by2 Grow Tent

Hello Grow bro’s im back starting a new grow journal to document my current R&D and Training run. I’m focusing heavily on LST Mainlining and tracking certain phenotypes to select future mothers
The Line up:
Candi Paint 2 different Phenotypes
Half Bake 2 different Phenotypes
Frosted Grape 1 Phenotype
Grow Setup & Environment
Ac Infinity 4&2 Grow Tent
AC Infinity Evo 3 Lights currently dimmed for early veg
Medium coco coir
1/2 gallon Pots
Nutrients
Advance Nutrients Sensei Grow A&B
The plants are currently in early veg. This my 2nd time trying my hand at mainlining. I top at the 3rd node and LST the 2 main tops. My goal is to wait until the lateral branches reach there 3rd node and top again and use the lower nodes for clones
Im logging everything in my grow journal and tracking performance on a keeper scoring sheet ( focusing on lateral branching speed, cloning success, and node density).
Feedback and advice is always welcome!

Wouldn’t mother selection be based off the effects more than anything? With the HST mainlining and any LST being done, that’s not gonna give you any useful/repeatable info on lateral branching and minimal on node stacking data. Clone them all and wait for the smoke. Keep the best of each strain for a mother plant and toss the rest.

Top shelf advice from Budbrother. It’s like drag racing, looks don’t mean a lot, performance is everything! If mothers are chosen for looks,( and some are) effects may not match the looks.:oncoming_fist: I don’t train prospects for mothers or pheno hunting, I want to know what they do on their own before incorporating training.

I agree. Once you start manipulating the shape of plant there isn’t really any way to differentiate between the plants natural progression or how you impacted it. Especially with such a small control group. In a grow like this your light being a half inch off center or tent walls being cleaner on one end could make a noticeable impact on growth rates and harvest weight. You can still learn a bunch by tracking your grow metrics and plant performance but I would just take a grain of salt approach to your final results. Find which plant is the closest to your liking and get a mom going. Then take a bunch of clones from it and see how different methods impact a strain you’ve already deemed to be a keeper.

I’m of no help. I’m organics and living soil guy. Back in the day, a friend just used concrete blocks with exact same setup shown. What’s that, 8-10”?
