Slow growing seedlings

The best outcome - bring the air in the bottom or down low and take the air out much higher or out the top. When you are in a warm climate temp is always a problem. Moving air around inside will not cool it down.

Good move using lights at night, the temp is still a little high but much better.

What are the temperatures during day and at night outside the box? and what temp with lights off?

You sound like you are doing well on the transplant. Keep working at it. Sounds like things are getting better. You just have a hard climate to grow in.

Ok I’ll do just that, I’ll add one to the top and one at the bottom…
The temperature outside the box is around 80 - 90f, we are in the middle of summer. inside the box at night with the lights on the temp has been between 78 - 81 and during the day with the lights off it actually gets hotter 82 - 86… so the weather here seems to be my biggest problem :frowning:

Iam actually surprised at how well they are doing after the tranplant, they dont seem stunned at all and have actually grown some more… but very slowly still. im waiting for the soil to dry out so i can can flush the soil and try fix the ph problem.

I wouldn’t wait until it is dry. I would flush it with pH water as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more bad pH gets sucked up into the plant.

@garrigan62
So yesterday I flushed two of my plants and had a really hard time getting the soil ph lowered. When I started the flush the run off ph was at 7.6 and after flushing with about 7-8 times the size of the pot the ph was still at 7. I started flushing with water phed at 5.9 as Majiktoker advised, and ended up lowering to 5.5 after flushing 3x the size of the pot and seeing barely any change in the ph run off. I decided to stop the flush with the soil ph at 7 since i had put a lot of water into the soil the plants didnt seem to like it very much, towards the end the leaves were really droopy looking.

My question is… does that seem normal? from what I been reading it should be flushed with the 3x the size of the pot, and I used way more that to only get a .6 ph reduction. Should I keep flushing till the run off is at 6.5? I was worried that it might be too much for the plant to handle, the transplant and now the flush.

As long as it is coming down, I wold stop. Give it a little time and let it recover from the flush. Next time you water, give a little extra and check the pH of the runoff. You do not need to bring the pH down all at once, it will shock the plant. Your soil may be a little hot for seedlings with all the worm castings in it. As long as your pH continues to fall, you should be OK. @garrigan62, what do you think?

How is your heat problem doing ?

Heat problem is still the same… I have been busy with work and havent had the time to drill another hole on the box for the fan. I plan on doing it this saturday. whats worrying me the most, is that the temperature is hotter with the lights off than with the lights on.

@TxGrowman on the temperature problem… I don’t know if it matters but would it be more helpful to add a bigger fan to pull air in or to push air out? I have only 1 bigger fan.

Also I know it’s still too early for me to give nutrients just want to order ahead so I already have it when the time comes… has anyone used or know about BioBiz nutrient 3 pack? I have been researching the forum but haven’t found much information about it… I know that most people use and recommend general hydroponics or fox farms nutrients but they are quite pricey out here(around 350 bucks in brazilian currency) and the BioBizz is a lot more affordable(69 bucks for the 3 pack)… So if those are good for weed I would prefer to go with them.

This is NPK for them:

Bio Grow NPK: 4 - 3 - 6
Bio Bloom NPK: 2.0 - 7 - 4
Bio Alg-a-mic NPK: 0,1 - 0 - 0,2

Or (there are two different packages)

Bio Grow NPK: 4 - 3 - 6
Bio Bloom NPK: 2.0 - 7 - 4
BioBizz Top Max Organic Booster NPK: 0.1 - 0.01 - 0.1

Not sure about the nutes, I pretty much stick with pH perfect Sensi Bloom. Maybe @Hammer @garrigan62 could help on the different nutes.

Personally I think it would be better to have the stronger fan on the top and have it pull the air through. The big thing you want is to get the heat that rises to the top out. Jerry

@MasterSplinter if it were me id goe with the first 3 part you list here .wait till

you girls got 4-5 true leaf sets .then use a 1/4 strength nute solution ph,to 6.5.

Be carful not to over water .

Hammer.

What’s up everyone! Just stopping by for an update…
So the plants seem to be doing a little better and showing new growth but still a little bit slow…I have added more fans to the box but didn’t seem to make much of a difference on the heat problem =( temps are between 80-88 with the lights on and 80-84 with the lights off…
I haven’t wattered them yet since the soils still a little damp from the flush and I’m waiting for it to completely dry out before watering again… So not sure yet what the new run off is.
But overall they seem to be doing better and growing some bigger leaves… they are 5 weeks old today.

@Majiktoker, @garrigan62, @TxGrowman
Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me out on one more thing… the bottom leaves on my plants are turning out and drying out, I was wondering if you guys could help me figure out what the problem is?

Need some info. It has been a while. How long has this been going on?

They started off really slow due to soil ph being really high… after a few flushes I was able to get it down to 6.8-7… started feeding nutes about two weeks ago and they have shown some new growth but still slow… but the tips are turning yellow And on one the bottom leaves started to turn yellow and drying up

When the nutes were given, what strength was given ? Did the tips turn yellow and leaves start falling off/drying up after the nutes were given ? How long after ?

I have fed nutes on the 3 last eaterings starting at quarter strength and the last two times at half strength. The tips started to turn yellow after nutes but the bottom leaves turning white was going on before nutes.

Yeah you should try an space it out on watering, not necessarily in a set schedule, but maybe feed every other feeding if they look good an healthy and maybe plain. Ph’d watwr if they don’t then when they look health return to a either every other or every 3rd watering if that makes sense, just get a feel for what your plants are tellin you and how often are you watering them?
