ShureGreens Very First Grow Journal

I think @Indacut is probably on the right track. The flower stretch combined with lower DLI in flower will make some pretty leggy plants. Even more so with most sativa dominant strains.
As for the weak stems, I’d guess it’s a product of high N levels. The fertilizer stakes have time release N that could lead to excess in mid flower when the demand for N drops. I’m just not sure how long it would take the constant runoff in coco to flush it all out. It may not even be there anymore.
The strengthening aspect of airflow comes from moving and bending the stems just a little. the same thing is achieved by just handing your plants regularly. Training, pruning, and inspecting your plants force you to give that same stimulation with your hands instead of moving air. Anything more than a gentle breeze fluttering the canopy for an extended period of time can create too much damage and the stress will outweigh the benefit. We want tiny amounts of damage so the plant can easily recover stronger. Too much and they will be damaged faster than they can recover, thus the strengthening doesn’t happen, just the opposite in fact.

Ihy. Yeah, even if just my head brushes against them when I have to get in between them to water they break. It’s a circus act trying to get in there. Tonight I started just removing the outer ones from the tent long enough to water and get my test samples. What a pain, huh??? Such is Karen’s World.

This weeks photos. There’s some crisping at the tips of the leaves, but idt it’s something to be concerned with right away. We shall wait and see. I am including the 2 Autos I have going. I’ll tell you what, I have zero luck with them. The Lime Glow have been 8 of 10 so far with terrible results. The Apple Fritter seems to be doing ok except for being as small as it is, about to start week 8. At least I will get some personal out of it. Pretty sure that other than the 19 seeds I have left of it, I am done with Autos. Might not even plant those.

Idky they never post in the order I upload them. I even did 2 and 3 at a time this go round and they are still out of whack. :person_shrugging:

You can arrange the pics by cut and copying the strings int o the order you want although I haven’t had problems with them getting mixed.

So… My phone broke and I went more than a full week without one and when the new one finally did come it was the wrong phone plus apparently my Sim card is outdated so I still do not have a phone that’s mine and that I want or with my phone number on it. Most of my accounts are set to 2 step verification(whoever big idea that was should be shot) so I can’t access my emails or my bank or facebooks or pretty much anything except this right here. Yay ILGM!!! Y’all know why this happened??? Because Karen isn’t allowed to ever get ahead my SS finally paid me back the grand they owed me, thank Gawd, and I immediately dropped and shattered my phone. Yup, that’s just how I roll. Yay me! NOT! Anywhooo… Nuff whining. Here’s this weeks photos. No collages so let’s hop they hit the page in the order I send them through cause I’m not copy and pasting squat.

Looking good frosting up nicely.

Yeah, but they aren’t filling out like I think they should. May be too soon, but I’d hate to wind up with a shitpotton of popcorn buds. They do smell amazing though.
You get anything else started?

They look pretty good. Especially considering all the issues you had to deal with in veg with lights and learning coco. They do look a little underdeveloped for being close to half way through flower, but I don’t see any real issues. Your probably running up against the limit of your grow light. I know vivosun claims it’s a 4x4/5x5 light, but it’s just not big enough to make the most of that space. You might end up with quite a bit of larf on the lower stuff and outside edge of the tent, but it looks like you should still have plenty of good weed to smoke. Even fluffy or popcorn bud will probably be better quality than most of what you could buy unless you know a good grower.

They might surprise you in the end. You have lots of trichomes so atleast it will be good however it ends. Yea I got one going, its about 1 week above ground. Gonna keep it simple so I can give more attention and see how it goes. Got another indica hybrid.

@Gl1tch Hey, hey. Good to know. They are really starting to fill in now. And some of the bottom small ones that I keep pulling off have been very persistent and before I knew it they turned into nice little buds. Lol! I swear that next time I’ma do my dead level best to not prune. It’s just so hard for me not to. With all my time and OCD and all my sections of crazy…well, it’s just super difficult to not do it. Lol! But I’m gonna try hard. Photos later today. I think you’ll be impressed. Maybe. Also, when I had those issues during Veg I set the overall time estimate back 2 weeks, so by that I am only in week, well almost week 5 of flower. So still 3-4wks on the 2 Indica Strains and 5-6wks on the SLH. I plan to get my loupe out when I feed later and see what the trichomes are looking like. With the problems I think I should start checking now just in case they weren’t bad enough to set them back as far as I think. What do you think? I hate touching them now cause of how sticky they are and I’m afraid the Trichomes will be falling off. Idk if that happens or not, but have been being careful.
I got some things for that stupid watering system, that I used for all of 3 days, that I think will go better with the solar thing that actually is pretty good. Got ends for 10¢ a bag of 10! So all I have to get are the T-splitters and maybe different size hose. Whatever, getting 10 for 10¢ was a phenomenal deal. You think?
Ay you know they replaced my light, right? So the one in there now is brand new.
Anyway, I’ll be back in a few hours with photos. Yay Photos!

@Indacut Glad you’re giving it another shot. After this one I’m going to lay off til after Christmas. Try to lower the power bill for wintertime. Using the heat pump blower raises it too much already. As to your spider mites…DUDE! I been killing at least 2 Wolf Spiders a week down there and 1 of them WAS INSIDE MY TENT!!! My phone was crapped out so I lost my photos, but I’ma see if my boy has them in messages and I’ll show how gigantic it was. It was no match for my electric fly swatter though.

Believe me I get it. I’m bad about wanting to pick through them too. I’ve just learned that less is more and fight to restrain myself.
Flower starts when you see the buttons on top forming. That’s when to start your timeline.

Question…how do I know when to lower their nute EC for Ripening?

Off topic question, and this one has stumped me for many years. You know, I replaced my Inner Tie Rod Ends a couple of weeks ago, and can even do brakes-pads, drum, rotors AND calipers- but I do not know the answer to this most simple of queries. Here it is…Based on the two attached photos, each showing a different side of the dip stick, on the same pull, do I need to add Trans Fluid or do I need to drain some back out? Thank you very much.

These are probably better.

Usually around 7 weeks ish. You’ll see them start slowing down, they will use less water. You might also notice the buds ripening.
It looks good to me. If your unsure you can wipe it get a few readings but a tranny won’t last long if you put way too much fluid in it unless you just filled. Check your manual for the proper checking procedure. It can affect your reading. It wouldn’t last very long if it was that over full.

Well, of course it’s a 1999 Subaru so the manual is long gone. Lol! A Haynes manual I do have. Anyway it’s just how on the front side of the ds it is low but on the backside it appears way too full. Idk. I know I was level. And I’ve always just had it in park and cleaned the ds and reinsert it. Get in the car and cycle through the gears and back to Neutral and leave it in Neutral while I read the ds. I thought that’s how everyone did it. Didn’t know there was more than one way

what happens when you can’t put your light up any higher are they going to burn

I leave enough room to adjust up through stretch. Usually. N yes some still burn. Part of the game. Pushing. Prioritize the average canopy when adjusting light intensity. When running all different cultivars, it’s easy to get an unbalanced canopy, and even harder to maintain an even canopy. That’s why everyone suggests running the same strain if your after yield. However if you are after yield you should only be running clones from the same cultivar per light fixture footprints I stopped chasing yield a while ago because it doesn’t make sense on this scale. I can’t say I care too much when some leaves crumble. My buds and harvests speak for themselves. Without much effort.

@Bigbloomer78 Idt they are going to get whole lot taller, unfortunately. They didn’t before anyway. I only will get maybe 40-50oz from all of them together. BUT…if the quality is to the moon like my 1st grow then it’s all good.

@Low Dude… I absolutely love your response and the way you think.
