In most cases I’d just grab some leds that fit the factory drivers. That sometimes works out better than others, but can always do something with them. Worst case scenario the drivers can be changed too, just costs more. But they’re definitely all white phosphor coated leds.
Depending on what kind of situation you’d want to use them in it’s plenty easy to adjust for that. For instance if you have one specifically that you like to germ with, I can remove a portion of the factory drivers and do something with a colder color temp led that you could just run a little closer and save on some power. Or if you have space that you wanna go seed to harvest on, I can pretty much mimic the light spectrum of your lec minus the uv. Or, grab some really warm leds to be a little flower booster. Lots of options.
Can you steer me to the lights you are suggesting?
Here’s one I found at Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DFDT3DT/ (Quantum LEDs 260 Watt Quantum LED Light 304 Board Kit (2700k,4000k,5000k) - White Light Grow Lamp for Horticulture)
Where I have a 4’ deep tent, this probably won’t work as they say “Veg Footprint - 4x4, Flowering Footprint - 2x4 or 3x3, good for use in both veg and flower but best for veg”
Another one at Amazon.com but when you look at the PAR ratings, it’s not going to be as good as what I’ve already got.
And looking at the wavelength, I like the BESTVA’s more.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s my understanding that the blue and red spectrum are most important for cannabis growth.
I’m good with my hands, and would love to create a custom light that kicks butt over the 4’ depth. Any suggestions?
If I can say one thing, I wouldnt trust any of the par ratings and wavelengths from china lights, they call a 390w blurple fixture a 1400w hps equivalent wich is complete bs, not so sure I would trust these data too. Do not waste money on blurples woull want to change them next grow I promise.
Now that I know more things, if I had your space and didnt want to spend 1K$ on lights I would grab two HPS 400/600W and go from there, I used about 780W of blurples in my 39x39 tent last grow and still could have used more light.
Hey everyone,
I’ve really enjoyed my light mover. I think it’s doing a great job, but now that I’m getting closer to flower mode, I’ve decided to purchase another light. So I’ll have two 2000 watt BestVa DC Series LED lights (blurple for you LED haters:) traveling in tandem on the light rail.
I’m wondering what you would suggest for spacing between the lights, and how close to the wall it should go on either side?
Here’s a sketch showing one light set 6" from the wall, and the other centered in the space.
and here it is with them having moved all the way to the left
The tent will be full into the corners with 2x2’ SCROG frames, so I want to cover as much as possible. Here’s another version which has the lights stopping 10" from the walls, and about the same amount of space between them.
and then to the left
BTW, the advice I got from a reputable light mover company was to have the lights rest for 30 seconds at each end.
@dbrn32 i was about to ask the same q for a 5x5 with light mover.using a 600w qb dimmed an how people found the internode spacing using 3000k v2 for veg? or would 3x 135w fixed or moving 1x4000k an 2x3000k qb be even better for less watts overall, price not really an issue, more which qb setup would run dimmed and use overall less power with better or similar penetration to previous 600w mh/hps? tks for any info is greatly appreciated dbrn32.you should make a tshirt or cap,i would buy both
Shirt or cap, I’ll keep in back of my mind thanks!
Typically speaking, the 3000k is plenty tight. I probably get tagged into more instances of trying to get the plants to stretch more with them than I do dealing with too much stretch. The wildcards there are dimming and using a mover. I’m sure you could make it work, I’m just not as sure how to tell you to set it up.
If cost isn’t really an issue, I would look at doing 3 of the 260xl kits for flowering. Two could probably veg the space pretty well, maybe even dimmed a little. And then you wouldn’t really have to worry about the mover, but you could still use it on short sweep if you wanted too. I feel like you would open up the potential of space a lot more than with a single 600 watt mh/hps rig too.
