Anyone ever use this product before to germinate seeds? I’ve used Promix HP with good results but can’t get it here now.
It’s basically Promix with extra perlite. It has mycos added for seedlings. Inert media with plenty aeration. Same ingredients just in smaller package and labeled as seed starter with increased cost per volume of Promix.
Is it worth it? I guess that depends on your situation. Can you find Sunshine mix #4. That’s Promix but labeled differently for east coast. Same manufacturer.
I was using this for starting my seeds, but as @Budbrother said I switched to just using sunshine mix #4 and add a litlle more Mykos and azoz and pearlite. I have not had issues
Thanks, I don’t know about anyone else but I’ve had well over 90% success starting in soil vs the paper towel method(40%)! Not sure why ilgm pushes the paper towel method so much.
I have used a few methods to germinate my seeds. I have direct sewed them into soil or peat, Soaked them in water and a little peroxide until they have a tail and sew, and the paper towel method. All work ok, but I feel the direct sewing into peat was the least successful for me.
I now soak overnight in water and peroxide, the next day I put in a damp paper towel in a watertight container in the dark on a heating matt, and sew them when they have a nice long healthy tail. Sometimes they pop and have a tail just from soaking overnight…so I skip the paper towel…I did that just yesterday.
Have you/anyone had success with the paper towel method after trying in soil first. Just curious. Only cause I’ve had the tail break on several occasions due to my fault (dried out towel and just clumsy).
I use the “paper towel” method but I don’t soak them first. I also put them in soil as soon as the smallest bit of white root appears. I keep them between 75 and 80 F.
I have very good success rate, nearly 100 percent.
50/50 shot. Depends on several variables.
Tail break, it was left in too long. I’ve forgotten and had them grow through so I had to cut p.towel and plant. Can’t fix clumsy but can set reminders to check on tap. Dried out towel, it wasn’t in a baggie.
