SCROG a 2' plant

No more SCROG net! The paracord made it extremely easy to take the SCROG off. When the lights go off I’ll place her into the flower tent.

Update

Tonight I put her into flower! Yesterday I changed her water out and gave fresh nutrients with water, I added her first dose of Tiger Bloom. I’m super excited to see her flower! She’s basically a perfect square right now haha, at 30" tall and with a 30"x30" canopy. This will be a very fun plant to watch grow her buds, I hope you guys enjoy!

Looking good…lots of bud sites…it’s going to get crowded :fearful:
Do you have a way to support the outside of the plant? To keep the canopy even?

I was thinking back to my own scrog without a screen and how the stems couldn’t support the buds for the last few weeks.

3 months vegging…this is kick-ass territory, something that couldn’t be done with an auto!

That’s actually why I decided to take the SCROG net off @kabongster! The branches and stem have thickened so much that it was supporting the SCROG net without any supports underneath or over head. I’ve never grown a thicker plant, stem and branch wise. But, I’m ready to help her out with supports near by!

Updated pictures day 7 of flower

So I realized that taking the SCROG off was not the best idea, but I had to do it, so in order to make it work, I had to prune off tons of branches that were no longer getting light, but were instead slowly dying from being hidden and squished with other branches and leaves. I had to open it up so air could get through as well as light. Here are pictures from last night, before I did any pruning.

Today I did the pruning, and took more pictures. It was A LOT guys! I could have made at least 20 clones, no joke. I cut off so many branches that just weren’t going to be helpful in the rest of the grow. I know some will think I’m crazy, but really if I didn’t do this, I was worried my plant would be subjected to a higher chances of mold or rot. So anyway, here’s pictures of her pruned and ready to finish her stretch in flower.

ktreez420 scissorhands…you been using one of these to clear things out? :fearful:

Lol that probably would have made it easier!
It had to be done, and honestly the only branches cut were all new growth that wasn’t going to reach anyway. Mostly in the center too.

I’ve heard many opinions against removing undergrowth, but I can’t see it providing any benefit for the average indoor grower. I think what your doing maximizes development in the top large colas. I did the same on mine, and the plants responded great.

Nothing you removed would have ever seen any light unless you put lights under the plants. Lol

Which I did actually lol, check the pics @Blountville! Those are two LED bulbs I found at IKEA the other day, they were cheap, but were also 2700 kelvin and 800 lumens so I said !@#$ it why not?! But even with lights underneath, after removing the SCROG net everything just bunched back together. I kind of knew that’s what would happen, but I was just hoping it wouldn’t lol. Regardless, I did what I thought was best. We’ll see in the end!

Update

I changed the water out today. She looks great and has really grown since entering the flower phase. I think she’s going to produce some heavy buds! I hope at least!

And here are the girls in flower. Notice how big this plant has grown? It’s the same height as the Blueberry, and hasn’t even started to flower yet!

Also, while I was in the tent I decided to take my LED bulbs I had bought, and try to take one apart. They were like $5 for two bulbs anyway, so if I ruin them I’m not worried about it. Here’s what I found, and how it looks now.

What was the purpose of that?

Of what…?

Taking the bulb off

The plastic cover actually takes away from the light output. A lot of light is lost/wasted from the cover. If you look up growing LED bulbs, you’ll see what looks like my final product. That’s because that design of having the LEDs wide open and uncovered allows for more light to be emitted than when it has to go through a translucent cover.

I’m about to take the cover off the one I have… Any easy ways to do so after you do it lol
