Removed the tents from this room and painted all the walls floor and ceiling white. Set the totes and begin piping
This is my new lighting control panel. The old panel is on the left which will be removed when i transfer power to the new panel. The old controlled the hps lights in the room below which im replacing with 2 hlg 600r. The first fic is 4 medic grow 800 w im switching all lighting to 240v to reduce amp draw on my breaker panel.
I currently have several plants in solo cups and coco would it be ok to put these into the net pots
I ordered the sothern ag does it expire like hydrogguard in 6 months? Honestly I have thrown more out than I use.
that is my understanding is that what is in there is alive and once opened it starts to die off …
I’m not really sure, it doesn’t say on the bottle. It’s so potent compared to hydroguard though, I wouldn’t worry about it.l if you use it within a year or so. Thats what I’m going with anyway. I’ll report back if I notice declining potency.
Could always reach out to AG and ask to be certain.
Finally got plants into their homes. These are clones that were on solo cups and coco we will see how it works out next clones will go straight from cloner to the system. The water is cloudy from the coco and used well water instead of ro so getting ph is difficult. This grow is for getting the bugs worked out.
Really excited. Already have roots looking for the water.
Nice setup
I was wondering how it would work out. This first round ive done averything different than the next grow. This time i used our well water which runns about 550 ppm and loaded with iron and then i took some clones i had growing in coco in solo cups and i took these and put them into the net pots with some clay pebbles and the ph took forever to get sort of stable i set at 5.6 and by morning and afternoon its 6.2 getting spme plants yellowing on lower leaves. Im assuming its from all the things ive done (wrong) roots on all but 3 plants have reached the water now and i keep top watering the stragglers for now but ill probably remove them at resevoir change if they dont get with the program. Im keeping an eye on the more robust for future clones before light flip.
Leaves are still yellowing although the ph is holding at 5.7 i put a cupful of jacks part b to maybe raise the solution nitrogen levels we will see if this helps
Today i emptied my system and replaced with jacks and Ro water instead of the well water (ppm 600+) my mix is running at 1200 ppm and 5.6 ph. Using ro instead of well water took verylittle ph down to get in the zone. I also made a chiller to keep water temps down and it seems to be working. A couple days will tell if i need a bigger unit. I took a small cabinet cooler and removed the fan and moved the evap coil into a bucket and am using a small pump to take res water and pump it into the chiller bucket and let it gravity flow back through an inverted trap to maintain water level in chiller res. The pump pictured was the main circulation pump but when i was cleaning out the grow totes i was getting a sharp pain in my fingers so i used a proximity voltage testeri found this pump is leaking electricityi to the nutrients system and was shocking me. Could have been fatal. Going to put a earth ground into my res and have added a gfi . Note to all my grow friends here be careful when messing with electric devices in your systems.
I think about it every time I have my hands in the water. I have been lucky for several years and not got shocked. I have my pump on a short loop timer, it’s on 30 second off for a minute.
I’ve seen small apartment/dorm 'fridges used for this: put a bucket of water in the 'fridge, load a coil of copper tubing into the bucket and pump your nutes through it.
Here is the ( chiller) for 3 hours now has held water at 72 degrees f. Id like colder but im sure this is fine
My chiller is now maintaining 67 degrees. Wooohooo
That’s what I use
Another lesson learned. I bought a ph ppm monitor for my hydro grow and thought everything was great but plants not doing well. In my excitement for the new setup and new monitor i didnt think to calibrate the monitor and have been adjusting ph according to the monitor. I checked with my calibrated pen and found the solution at ph of 4.4. I calibrated the monitor and now have the ph adjusted to 5.8 lets see how they respond. I feel like at this point ive done this whole grow wrong. These plants will probably be too stunted to produce but maybe they will rebound before my clones get rooted or ill replace them and start fresh. @Caligurl its been a while hows life in the foothills.
how do your plants look after being adjusted to a lower PH than normal…
