Rdwc hydroponic setup with water chiller

Im using gh up and down. I will try those ph up and down products. Do you think that ph perfect stuff would work…with this ph down that you showed me…will it cause a p overdose if it takes too much??? Im ordering a blue lab ph meter to replace my other one

I mix my system 1 week prior to plants in minimum. Usually when i drop beans i mix it. I listed some quick reasons, but also keep in mind i never change the res the entire grow unless there is a challenge, its living water. This method uses 2/3 less plant food vs weely res changes where you pour money on the ground. Thats how i dont go broke using AN grandmaster.

Bacteria is everywhere and loves nutes, i add all the right stuff, but there will be bacteria war. I want it stable first.

As C02 leaves water as you oxygenate it and lower its temp to 66 -68 degrees PH will rise. If you chase the PH you end up recorrecting for what you adjusted early on increasing ppm. So, i let it go nuts, after a while it stableizes, then i make 1 adjustment before plants go in.

If there is bacteria war and i get floaties, my filter can handle it as i keep putting my finger on the scale with good bacteria, and cleaning the filter of bad bacteria saturating system with good bacteria and myco to the point where i can add a crapload of Bud Candy “sugar” and res not explode with horrors. Learned this the hard way my god the horrirs i grew figuring out the sugar

When i finally add plants no PH or nute adjustment is needed at all.Once a week when i readd good bacteria. The bacteria eats up a lot of the sugar, i add 250ml to 65 gallons of nutes the same day i add bacteria and myco. Bacteria and fungus multiply exponentially and eat more stuff, pooping other stuff that raise PH so the next day i need to bring it down like .1 or .2 back to 5.9 otherwise it doesnt move at all.

It sounds like you have a killer setup. Im going to switch from dwc to rdwc this summer. Im adding a room onto the house just for growing since the lumber prices finally are coming down. I would like to know why my tap ph went up so much in the last 3 weeks. It used to take about 18ml.to get the ph to 5.9. Do they sell any decent home test kits for water??

I will tag you in my grow journal if you want to take a look. I would say its more a reflection of problem solving failure than awesome, but i didnt find the forum untill later. Basically the result of a process engineer / computer scientist decides they are gonna figure out how to grow dro :joy:.

VERY VERY good scientific information, it definitely sounds to me that you’re the source to go to, for growing~fixing problems! I’ve learned a lot, ENJOYING all the educated answers very appreciated!

Same here :joy: first addition of molasses to my system was a terrible, terrible mistake.

I prefer the Botanicare Sweet line as my sugars now (molasses was just not a good hydroponics idea generally, talk about clog city) but I’ve never used Bud Candy so I may just not know what I’m missing.

Hey guys…j3 here. I ended up losing those 4 plants. They were in the 5th week of flower. I found root rot on one of them but still not sure what happened to the other ones…

I have had that happen once or twice. I think it ultimately started with fussing too much. I damaged the roots rather badly by lifting the net pot once or twice a day for several days as the roots got larger. It wasn’t real obvious the first time it happened, felt mysterious and abrupt - plant just stopped drinking one day.

The next time around, the roots had a weird gooey Bacteria slime on them. Almost like hello. It was a direct result of manhandling the roots a few days prior.

Unfortunately that can happen on what I’ve read on the subject, Curiosity is what killed the cat! Roots I’ve been studying don’t like light! BUT how’s one to see what’s going on down there? Life’s I guess is all about taking precise, educated steps, when I finally get my stuff going I’m for sure that I will fall in the mud too!
NOSE FIRST, nothing ventured nothing gained, horticulture science TRICKY!

Well start over! Don’t give in and don’t back down ! If only your ph hadn’t messed with ya, but look on the bright side this FORUM from what I have seen is filled with very smart people,me I’ve been told I have the IQ of fence post!

Yep they just stopped drinking all of a sudden. The one had a dark gray spot on it but it never got slimey or anything. Im waiting for some stuff from amazon to come before i start more plants.(new ph meter, advance nutes ph up and down)

Short story is its 3 specific plant sugars like 1/2 one type and 25% each two other types. Some ratio like that, im blazed. I use Carboload also which is the 1/2 part of Bud Candy. Plants love it, aaaand so does everything you dont want to grow. I have to ramp it up over time, to mix the full amount in a fresh res is grow suicide. I’ve definetly validated how not to do it a few times :joy:

That sucks to hear man. I used to have huge challenges with root rot and cyanobacteria slimyish brown stuff that sucks just as bad. What solved that for me was Hydroguard, and Dr. Tims Waste Away Bacteria.

I use hydroguard each time i change water. I think it was like 2mil.per gal. I also use cal mag and armour si…im pretty blazed myself. I ordered that ph up and down you told me about
