RDWC general info

I had one from amazon Said it would do up to 55 gallons. When. Got it it says up to 20 gallons over 20 gallons need two or more. Oh that was on order I passed up a used one on eBay for $100 that would’ve done the job

Yeah good ones I’ve found start around $350

Ran into a problem had one of my feed lines move and pumped about 3 gallons of water out before I cough it. I just put seedling fertilizer and cal mag in yesterday. Is there any adjustments I need to make besides adjusting ph level do I need to adjust ppm or add any nuterients when I add water back in?

I would add about a gallon worth of nutes and ph it all before adding it.

Awsome thx. Added ph is at 6.01and ppm is 107. Right now since this first chiller wouldn’t work I bought a lot of plastic ice packs keeping about 4 in the resivor keeping it about 62-65 when not circulating and 68-70 when circulating. Changing out ice packs about every 3-4 hours

That’s a bit high on ph. Shoot for 5.8 if you can. That’s the sweet spot in the range.

Your pump should only run for 15 minutes every 4 to 5 hours… any more then that usually isn’t necessary…
It will keep your water cooler …

Ok I thought u said eariler leave it on for 30 mins every 4 hrs that the schedule I’ve been running. Should I drop it to the 15 minutes?

Most timers only work on 30 minute intervals… if you could do 15 minutes every 5 hours that would really help with your water temps…

Yeah mine only has 30 minute increments.

I believe my timber is a 15 minute increments I’ll take care of that in the morning. I’m having a problem with one of the hoseskinda sucking shut causing the one bucket to overflow. I cut the kinked part out reattached barb and it’s starting to do the same thing. Don’t know if you can see where it’s sucking in

Where in your system is this hose at? I’m confused as to why it would have such negative pressure to cause the hose to collapse?

That is a return hose from the grow bucket going into the resivor bucket

Is there a pump on that side of the line? If not that should have positive pressure? Sorry I see your pic of the setup but don’t really know how the system runs since it’s a pre built setup.

I don’t run RDWC but do have some experience with tubing like that. It looks like the angle of the tubing coming off the barb is causing the tubing to collapse. Is there a way you can straighten that part of the run out? Or another fix I have done is add a longer piece with a relief coil in it.

You could also take some zip ties and sorta zip tie it back into being round so that it can collapse in on itself…

Tried the zip tie it just started collapsing before the tie. The 4 return lines all feed into the resivor bucket where the kink is. Inside there is a pump at the bottom of the bucket

my reservoir bucket around 60-62F. But my grow buckets are 74F. I have the feeder set to run 15 minutes every approx 3 hours. Anything else I can do to get those temps down?

You could always add frozen water bottles to your main resivor… it will help…

That’s what I’m doing until my other chiller comes in. It’s keeping my resivor 60-62F but the grow buckets are at 74F should I shorten the off cycle on the feeder?
