Obvious stuff is covered here. Maybe start looking at things like contamination of hydroguard or coming from netpot, faulty water temp sensor, etc.

A light leak will typically cause algae and that doesn’t necessarily cause a problem for roots. So I wouldn’t expect it to be the issue.

@peachfuzz scroll up when you get a chance.

the only thing I could find was at the same time the issue started he had a kerosene heater failure and heavy black smoke was taken into the tent and this plant was first in line for this contaminated air… so we are going to flush the top down in case the coco is retaining some bad stuff from the smoke… then put in no nutes except some hydroguard and monitor roots and see if the rot comes back quickly like before… won’t hurt to flush top down and that has not been done…

So top down flush done, 15 gallons of fresh 6.1ph water added 8ML/gallon of Hydroguard.

Did another deep clean of the tote lid air stones and air tubes going into the water.

Did a second H2O2 dunk on roots to remove rest of slime.

Everything back together

Temp of water is 68.2F

Ok y’all it’s been 24 hours and normally in this time a small amount of slime starts on the tips of the roots, I can say 100% they are clean still, and the little lady even perked up about 1/4th inch leaves all perky she is looking a lot better. Will get a pic of plant an roots tomorrow at the 48 hour mark that’s normally when the slime is set and spreading. Fingers crossed this stops the issue.

Hope you got it figured out bro best of luck:grin::crossed_fingers:

The water from the top flush went directly into a 5gallon bucket, with very little coco one would think the water would’ve been clearish still, it came out pure black, it looked like a bucket of black paint.

After 2 flushes it was back to clear straight through

Good deal

You should wash off as much of that coco ontop of the hydrotone and only use the clay balls in the future and if you really want to get tricky , you could move onto neoprene collars for plant support and no media

Coco still has the quality of giving you issues as well…

Yeah @Retiredoldguy was telling me the same thing. I was thinking about switching to this for starting.

Or something like what you shown. I don’t want to transplant into netpots just wanna let it grow naturally into it.

That’s all I use but a heads up they can drown the seed especially in a Dixie cup with water in the bottom. I figured that out from experience.

Would it be practical to get clay pebbles set then put starter in center an fill around it with pebbles as it grows?

This is how I use them now I put the plug right into the clay pebbles in the net pot.

Ok that’s exactly what I was asking, I don’t like transplanting.

And she would still need top feed or would the splashing from the air pump be enough to keep her moist but not soaked

I keep an eye on it for about the first week or so. Make sure the plug is stays damp from the mist of the air stones.
